About you:

You are a passionate developer who loves experimenting with new insights and proposing creative solutions. You thrive with hands-on collaboration, and have experience digesting sophisticated functional and nonfunctional requirements to write well-crafted, tested, and robust production code.

As a engineer, you believe in the importance of positive collaboration and communication. As a dedicated team player and seek to enrich our work environment by sharing ideas and proposing solutions. You enjoy discussing technical solutions with engineers of all seniority levels and engaging with business partners.

You have a special interest in data platforms and massive-scale systems, like our platform currently processing 8 billion events per day. You are enthusiastic about contributing to the development of the next generation of our data platform.

As a driven, creative engineer who is eager to work with a versatile team to develop pioneering data systems, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and build impactful, reliable solutions for high-throughput data systems using a variety of third-party and eBay internal libraries and frameworks
  • Work with other product teams across eBay
  • Balance strong ownership and teamwork
  • Research, innovate, deliver and grow

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • Proven understanding of the software development fundamentals
  • Committed to working in an agile environment
  • Be a strong proponent of, and enforce to high quality standards
  • Proficiency in Java, with Scala being a big plus
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, typescript and React
  • Experience with Python3
  • Good understanding of Different Data Products and Tools (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, among others) is a plus
  • Proficiency in different data storages – RDBMS and NoSQL
  • Good understanding of streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Storm
