Responsibilities:

• Be part of a team of super-smart engineers building next generation geo-distributed database platforms running on thousands of machines across continents with 99.95% availability and strong consistency.
• As a database kernel developer, need to design and implement key database features using novel technologies with focuses on scalability, performance, geo-distribution, and availability.
• Deliver at the pace of business changes and requirements.
• Solve challenging technical problems both individually and cooperatively with the team.
• Passion to bring out innovative ideas and try out new solutions, while being open minded to feedbacks from the team.
• Passion to build the next generation database platform which will be the foundation for all eBay’s applications serving billions of people every day around the globe.
• Relentless focus on quality.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
• Self-directed work style with minimum supervision.
• Expert level programming (C++) are required with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
• Strong knowledge of Linux system is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required due to dynamic nature of team discussions.
• Experience in system programming, such as Database, Operating System, is preferred.
• Experience in massively distributed systems is preferred.
• Experience in Database kernel development is a plus.
