In this role, you will work on a team of capacity engineers responsible for ensuring sufficient resources are available to support the Five9 Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) platform to include Voice, Network, AWS, GCP, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Vmware, and “core” Applications.  The ideal candidate will have experience balancing the needs of a high performing platform while being fiscally conscious of capacity choices as well as creating, communicating, and executing the capacity management strategy and capacity management best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with teams and individuals to include Architects, Engineers, Developers, Finance, Professional Services, Sales, and Leadership to identify:
    • Capacity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • Understand sales and professional services pipelines
    • Establish metrics telemetry
    • Document acceptable capacity thresholds
  • Provide capacity reporting and forecasting with emphasis on Public Cloud, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Drive best practices around right sizing, cost management and forecasting.
  • Work on capacity and forecasting problems with diverse scope, possibly outside of area of expertise.
  • Work with engineering and product owners to understand product penetration, demand, scaling, data flows, KPIs, etc. to build capacity forecasts.
  • Effectively work across team boundaries to drive objectives to completion.
  • Proactively work to identify capacity vulnerabilities before they impact customers.
  • Demonstrate good judgement in applying techniques and reliable solutions to solve problems.
  • Translate business forecasts to platform “needs” and impacts.
  • Assist in the creation of annual infrastructure budget by tracking and reporting capacity related infrastructure expansions and expenses throughout the year.
  • Create and communicate capacity forecasts and growth expectations for all components of the Five9 infrastructure.
  • Create and present quarterly capacity plans incorporating technical, statistical, financial, and operational data to be shared with management that can help drive financial decisions.
  • Work with key stakeholders to drive resource efficiency and scale.
  • Identify capacity risks and corresponding mitigations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the most effective use of Five9 compute, storage, and network resources.
  • Work with a sense of urgency, especially when addressing imminent risks within the platform.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with team members and customers both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • 6-10+ years of professional enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
  • 5+ years enterprise infrastructure capacity management/engineering/planning in network, servers, storage, public cloud, or telecom.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
  • Experience working in public cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud preferred) with emphasis on public cloud capacity metrics, reporting, and tools.
  • Ability to work remotely with a team that is geographically dispersed.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes and deal with ambiguity. 
  • Ability to make sound decisions with minimal feedback from management.
  • Ability to think critically to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

This role is fully remote for candidates who reside at least 50 miles away from our San Francisco or San Ramon office locations. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Francisco or San Ramon locations, this role will be Hybrid.

Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

The US base salary range for this role is below.
$110,800$156,900 USD
