ABOUT THE TEAM

To support Trade Republic's mission, we —the Data Platform — standardize data movements across systems and promote informed decision-making by creating self-service products. 

We design, build and operate tools and platforms offerings in various domains such as orchestration and execution of data pipelines, database replications (CDC), MLOps and stream processing. By joining the team Data Platform team, you will have a great chance to create an impact, contribute to the success of the organisation. 

As a Senior Engineer, you'll elevate our standards for delivering high quality products and outcomes. You will help in shaping technical roadmaps, scoping projects, overcoming challenges, and advocating for best practices within the team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Design  data-intensive systems collaboratively with your team.
• Develop services that empower your team and others to seamlessly handle large-scale data ingestion, processing, storage.
• Build resilient systems at scale. We process millions of events daily to inform our decision-making.
• Take ownership of the services and products, covering the entire lifecycle from ideation to research, implementation, and operation.
• Collaborate with colleagues across functions, supporting and educating them in data engineering. Discuss. Disagree. Integrate your ideas to the product, take ownership and build for the future.
• Empower your colleagues by providing continuous constructive feedback and mentorship.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• You have a background in Software/System Engineering and built production grade data-intensive systems. 
• You're proficient in system design, can reason about scaling strategies together trade-off such as availability vs consistency, latency vs throughput.
• You love solving challenging problems. We value your ability to tackle complex engineering issues over specific tools, language, or framework knowledge. 
• Your experience spans a variety of tools and data processing paradigms, including transactional data, event streams, and batch processing.
• You enjoy hands-on work with infrastructure. Our services are deployed across distributed systems in the cloud, and we manage our infrastructure using code. 
• You have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• You're a self-starter who thrives under a high level of autonomy.
• You’re eager to teach, learn and grow together with your team, you promote knowledge sharing.
