Tessera Therapeutics

Senior Data Scientist, Proteomics

Cambridge, MA US
Machine Learning Python R SQL
Description

What if… you could join an organization that creates, resources, and builds life sciences companies that invent breakthrough technologies in order to transform health care and sustainability?

FL94 is a NewCo pioneering the discovery of protein editors as a new category of medicines.  To reach this goal we are creating the industry’s first generative covalent chemistry platform foundationed on merging AI with a massively scalable proprietary data generation paradigm that will programmably create actionable covalent small molecules targeted to any protein class.  Both small molecule modulation of canonical function (using mono-valent editors) and novel induced proximity-driven functions (using bi-valent editors) are in scope to treat diseases spread within the full human proteome, not just the currently ligandable.

Position Summary:

FL94 is seeking a motivated Senior Data Scientist to join the proteomics team. In this role you will be a principal stakeholder in establishing and streamlining the data strategy for the chemical proteomics focused protein editing platform. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic collaborator who will work with colleagues from all departments to design and deploy data science solutions, thus driving the FL94 drug discovery pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust computational and statistical methods to analyze large scale (chemo)proteomics datasets.
  • Develop and streamline custom, automated data processing pipelines and strategies for rapid data analysis and dissemination.
  • Create intuitive data visualization tools and dashboards for interdisciplinary team use.
  • Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other team members to ensure code is robust and efficient.
  • Work closely with the machine learning team to triage targets and ensure data quality to facilitate generative design of protein editing chemistries.
  • Ensure rapid and accurate turnaround of data to drive achievement of key project goals.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including proteomics, biology, chemistry and machine learning departments to enhance the integration and utility of proteomics data.
  • Integrate proteomics data with other -omics datasets to better understand disease biology and drive drug discovery programs.

The successful candidate will have all the following skills necessary to perform in a fast-paced, purposeful, highly integrated, and pioneering environment:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, or other related fields with 3+ years of experience in an industry setting
  • High level of proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R.
  • Familiarity with various proteomics data acquisition strategies (TMT, DIA and label free).
  • A strong grasp of proteomics processing pipelines, such as Proteome Discoverer, FragPipe, DIA-NN, Skyline, or MaxQuant.
  • Previous experience analyzing chemical proteomics data is preferred.
  • Strong command of SQL database management and operations is preferred.
