Backend Developer

Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for Planet Earth. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of some of the world's most advanced hyperspectral earth imaging
satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform that enables easy application of this data across a multitude of sectors. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming
down regular imagery of any place on earth every day.

Responsibilities:

• Reinvent fulfillment by designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving pragmatic software.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Be a full owner: shape the foundation of the product and business that you work on.
• Actively learn new languages, techniques, and methodologies.
• Contribute actively to code reviews and design reviews.
• Write well-designed, testable, efficient code.
• Write simple to complex middle-layer services in Python/Django/FastApi and Geospatial frameworks.
• Follow software development and Cloud-native application best practices.
• Utilize engineering practices like pair programming, TDD, ATDD, CI/CD, and Refactoring techniques.
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experimenting with, and learning new technologies.
• Deliver high-quality code considering design patterns, security, performance, and optimizations inclusive of the necessary unit and integration tests.
• Having a data-driven approach - know how to measure and prove the impact and efficacy of your optimizations.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of industry experience in building solid software products, especially in the tech startup ecosystem.
• Any object-oriented programming languages like Python, Go, Java, or others.
• Experience in designing/developing applications of scale preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud services preferably AWS/Azure.
• Knowledge and experience in microservices architecture, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Highly analytical with a strong ability to think first principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions based on business needs.
• Engineering experience in early-stage/ growth-stage startups will be highly preferable.
• Docker and Kubernetes expertise.
• Knowledge of Agile development practices preferred.
• Backend technologies - Python, Django, FastApi.
• Experience with Cloud services like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Experience in dockerizing applications and deploying them on Kubernetes.
• Experience with the development of geospatially based interfaces, including the use of GeoJSON, MapBox, and Leaflet.
