Senior Flight Software Engineer - Verification and Validation

Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are deploying a constellation of some of the world’s most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on the ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across many sectors. Our fully deployed hyperspectral imaging constellation will be capable of beaming down high-quality imagery of every place on Earth daily. 

This role will contribute towards owning, defining, automating, and executing test cases based on system requirements for embedded flight software running on our satellite platform. You will be the sole owner of the Verification and Validation of Pixxel Space Segment Software.

Responsibilities:

1. Ownership of Verification and Validation of Space Segment Software for Pixxel missions.
2. You’ll develop strategies for validating flight software against system requirements. Execute comprehensive system test plans, perform analysis and document outcomes. You'll play a pivotal role in recording and categorizing defects while summarizing test results for clear communication.
   
3. Ownership of builds and releases.
4. You’ll investigate and analyze defects, reproducing scenarios using ground-based rigs to aid Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Develop and implement tests to address issues effectively.
5. You’ll create, validate, and manage automated test scripts based on system requirements, driving efficiency and accuracy in testing procedures.
   

Basic Qualification:

1. BE/BTech or ME/MTech/MSc Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
2. 5+ years' experience working hands-on with projects that involve testing highly safety/mission-critical complex systems such as spacecraft, satellite systems, automotive, etc.
3. Certification from organizations like ISRO or ISTQB® is a plus

Skills/Requirements:

1. Experience in reading and understanding datasheets, technical reports, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test plans is a must.
2. Strong understanding and experience in Avionics Systems, result analysis, and multi-system testing.
3. Strong understanding of test campaigns and ability to quickly and accurately document test reports and results.
4. Proficiency in scripting, embedded systems, and hardware/software-in-loop setups.
   
5. Experience with systems involving FPGA, Rapid Prototyping systems, and Simulators is a plus
6. Strong written and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a proven track record as a team player
