Graduate - Backend Developer Payments

What you need to know about the role As our quest to democratize financial services continues at blazing speed, we are on the hunt for a Java Backend engineer to join us.  In this role, you will collaborate with a crowd of bright people co-tackling a wide variety of technical challenges and driven by a shared ambition to create hassle-free solutions for our sellers.  Meet our team You will join a diverse team of 4-8 engineers. You will work closely with product and design to build the best features for our Zettle product.  You will be part of the Payments Core area in the Payments Alliance.

Your way to impact 

As a Backend Developer in our team, you will contribute not only to all aspects of backend, but also get involved in all aspects of software engineering: infra, data, application, deployment, monitoring, architecture, code reviews, pair and mob programming, etc.

Your day-to-day 

In your day-to-day role, you will lead highly skilled and motivated engineers. 

• You will focus on delivering high quality solutions using your Java and Kotlin skills  
• You will work as part of an agile team, planning, refining, delivering and inspecting sprint deliveries  
• You work closely with product and design to understand context and vision  
• You will work with your peers across teams to make platform improvements and increase learning opportunities for all in a supportive environment  

What do you need to bring 

Today we work with technologies like:  

• Java 
• Dropwizard 
• Docker, Terraform  
• PostgreSQL  
• AWS  

  

Everything is hosted on Amazon Web Services – we use managed cloud services as much as we can.  

  

We believe that you have:  

• A few years of experience building distributed systems 
• Experience working with continuously delivered systems 
• Experience with SQL and data modelling 
• A result and delivery-oriented mindset 
• A genuine learning and knowledge sharing spirit 
• Unix/Linux/Docker experience  
• Interest in or experience of FinTech industry
