What you need to know about the role: This role is for the Engineering Manager of the Financial Instruments Bengaluru team, which handles critical functions for the management of 6B+ payment methods. This high-impact and data-intensive team is responsible for a collection of Java components that include transaction event listening, RESTful APIs, and batch processing. Meet our team Financial Instrument team maintains the digital wallet of all PayPal users. The team is responsible for lifecycle and management of all payment methods used within PayPal. The team is part of PayPal Payments organization and plays core part in processing all transactions of PayPal. In this role, you will be at the center of a rapidly growing financial instruments platform, handling the systems that manage all payment methods used by PayPal users. You will help in building robust products to support PayPal's digital wallet product. 

As the Engineering Manager for Financial Instruments team India, you will have the opportunity to prepare the platform for an ambitious future by implementing performance and scalability improvements that enable us to delight millions more users.

Your day to day:

Manage and lead a 8-12 people development team that is part of a larger technology organization spanning multiple locations.

Help the team optimize processes, workflows, and developer experiences, so that every day our work can be more streamlined and efficient.

Provide mentorship and growth opportunities for developers, giving them the opportunities and challenges that will help them level up.

Contribute to the engineering vision of the org by collaborating with other engineering leaders to define how we can rise to meet the demands of tomorrow.

What do you need to bring:

11+ years of experience in software development.

3+ years of leadership experience as a manager, or dev lead or equivalent.

Experience with data-intensive architectures and an understanding of the best-practices that lead to scalability.

Knowledge of RESTful APIs and cloud infrastructure.

A self-motivated mindset with a high degree of ownership.

Experience leading teams as a manager or dev lead equivalent.

The positive attitude and empathy to be a cultural leader and inspire the team to do their best.

Experience with Java development, RESTful web services, and supporting frameworks.
