We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a background and passion in robotics motion planning and decision making to apply innovative route planning solutions for our autonomous vehicles. The Lane Router team is responsible for generating lane level routing for the planning & control stack. The lane level routing will allow the vehicle to know which lane to drive on, when and where is the best time to make the lane change with considerations for traffic rules, traffic conditions and so on. In this role you will generate mission management and graph algorithms, and develop software to tackle challenging scenarios such as lane change, construction zones, and passenger pick-up/drop-off interactions.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop a state-of-the-art route planning system to ensure vehicle navigates safely and smoothly through challenges regarding lane availability en-route to a goal
- Optimize development strategy and process to create high quality scalable code and documentation
- Define the roadmap and technical architecture based on technology and business needs
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior developers
What we're looking for:
- Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience in a robotics/autonomous vehicle R&D role
- Competency in modern C++ (11/14/17) software development
- Strong familiarity with graph construction and search algorithms.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and creative thinking.
Bonus points (not required):
- Relevant work experience in a robotics/autonomous vehicle R&D role
- Experience in motion planning and decision making (eg: probabilistic robotics, dynamic programming, state estimation, computational geometry, etc)
- Prior experience in reading/write scientific papers/journals and/or utilising them in practice
