Please note that while this role can be 100% remote(with occasional travel 3-4 times a year to our HQ in Boston), within the US or Canada, however we are requiring that this person be based on EST time. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship at the moment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead software development projects and perform design and code reviews
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-performance backend services supporting mobile and web applications
  • Establish best practices based on design patterns
  • Provide technical leadership by mentoring/coaching other engineers
  • Lead the team in estimation and planning as well as managing your own tasks and reporting on progress
  • Craft, propose, and document architecture designs, and implement systems to fulfill business initiatives.  
  • Establish testing policies and procedures (unit, integration, and e2e) 
  • Consider and solve for and security, scalability, availability, and performance
  • Propose short-term and long-term solutions for pain points in the system or product with clear deliverables and action items
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of services in production

About You;

Must Have's:

  • 10 years experience in software development and at least 3 years in a technical leadership role(Staff, Lead, Principal, etc)
  • Experience leading development efforts on a shipped product
  • Expertise in node.js
  • Experience contributing to technical strategy and architecture
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
  • Familiarity with design patterns such as MVC, OOP, observer, etc
  • Expertise in REST patterns and general API design, documentation, and testing including familiarity with tools like swagger and postman
  • Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. jest, mocha, cypress) 
  • Experience with CI/CD and integration with testing as well as git workflows like code reviews on merge requests
  • Experience with cloud native development and stateless applications
  • Experience writing and reviewing SQL

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with building and supporting GQL APIs using best practices
  • Experience building on AWS offerings
  • Experience in full-stack development
  • Experience supporting mobile applications
  • Expertise with react framework
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry or a regulated industry (HIPAA compliance, FDA, etc)

  • The base salary budgeted for this position is in the $170,000 - 190,000 (USD) range per year. The role will also include an annual discretionary target bonus based on performance as well as company equity. The final offer determined for a candidate who is hired into this position will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant skills, professional experience, and labor market conditions, etc.
