Internal loads that will size the equipment to meet the program technical requirements will be developed based on the externally applied acceleration, vibration, shock, and other dynamic loads. The appropriate factors of safety will be applied when writing yield and ultimate margins of safety to demonstrate structural integrity and considering temperature effects on material properties and strength allowables.

Stress engineers are responsible for achieving a compliant design which will meet all program environmental requirements and demonstrated by successfully passing qualification testing. This will be accomplished by conducting hand calculations based on strength of materials and structural mechanics theory. Finite element analysis (FEA), using Ansys, will be employed when conducting structural dynamic analysis of complex geometry individual parts and/or multi-body assemblies.
