As part of GE Aerospace’s Future of Flight and Integrated Design & Build teams, we create and test innovative solutions for the future of our business. In this role, you will help us make advancements in aircraft component and module design, with a focus on the Low-Pressure Turbine (LPT) airfoils / nozzles. This role is a technical team leadership role and is vital to the development of our next generation of commercial aircraft engines, like the RISE Open Fan or other advanced architectures. Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- As part of GE Aerospace’s next-generation low-pressure turbine technology maturation and ground and flight engine demonstration efforts, develop mechanical design solutions for assigned hardware that satisfy program requirements.
- Integrate collaboratively with global and diverse teams from multiple disciplinary functions such as thermal design, aero design, and systems design.
- Communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate collective decision-making.
- Create innovative solutions to meet broad design objectives for assigned hardware and overall module.
- Lead and complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, and assembly analyses.
- Mentor and assist engineers in their design reviews, drawing releases, setting quality requirements, assembly analyses, and other activities.
- Suggest areas for technology advancements and recommend approaches or programs to achieve them.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with industrial experience in mechanical design.
- Proven track record in delivering on complex technical challenges and ability to work in cross-functional global teams in multicultural environments.
- Demonstrated ability to advance technology and generate innovative solutions.
- Fluency in English.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience in the gas turbine or aviation industry, specifically in mechanical design for components such as rotors, airfoils, and structures.
- Skills in Finite Element Analysis (e.g. Ansys) and 2D/3D modeling of mechanical components (e.g. NX/Teamcenter).
