Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced AWS Platform Data Engineer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of Terraform modules, aimed at provisioning and managing infrastructure resources within Databricks environments. You will ideally be adept in cloud and data engineering principles but also brings a strong sense of innovation and efficiency to our operations.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop Terraform modules to provision and manage infrastructure resources in Databricks environments effectively.

• Implement and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient infrastructure solutions that meet the company's data processing needs.

• Optimize Databricks clusters for enhanced capacity management, ensuring high availability and performance of data processing tasks.

• Manage native security roles within AWS and Databricks environments, ensuring compliance with company and industry security standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify infrastructure needs, design solutions, and implement best practices in cloud and data engineering.

Required Qualifications:

• Approximately 7-8 years of relevant experience in data engineering, with a specific focus on AWS and Databricks environments.

• Demonstrated expertise in working with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) implementations.

• A solid track record of developing, provisioning, and managing AWS resources efficiently and securely.

• Strong proficiency in Terraform and Databricks.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with the ability to automate tasks and processes efficiently.

• Deep understanding of AWS services and infrastructure, with hands-on experience in managing cloud resources.

• A strong foundation in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and best practices, with a focus on creating reusable, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure code.

Nice to have experience:

• Experience with optimizing clusters for capacity management and performance.

• Familiarity with handling native security roles, access controls, and compliance requirements within cloud environments.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle challenges in innovative ways.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a team and interacting with stakeholders across various levels.

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $110,000 - $160,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time.  You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company.  In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms.   The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
