The purpose of this job is to analyze, design, build/test and deploy developments/applications/solutions using SAP ABAP and various other SAP technologies, ensuring high performance, code quality, resiliency, and customer satisfaction.
 

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works closely with Configuration / Functional analysts on small to large complexity programs to transform business system designs into bug-free application software.
  • Assists on the business blueprinting documents for SAP ABAP to provide technical input on system options and solutions.
  • Maps requirements to the proper technical solution.
  • Working with business teams to build prototypes to validate system requirements.
  • Ownership for system design, solution approach, implementation of solution and affirmation on quality of deliverables.
  • Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, implements, maintains, and supports application software in SAP ABAP.
  • Plans and executes unit tests to ensure the application code covers the requirements before being sent for quality testing.
  • Creates program code adhering to departmental development, testing and documentation standards.
  • Follows departmental and team standards as they apply to source code control and transport management.
  • Displays an understanding of advanced debugging techniques when investigating issues with programs.
  • Will participate in peer reviews of other developments.
  • Will be able to analyze and deliver effort estimations across Discovery, Design, Execution and Go-live phases of developments.
  • Will collaborate and coordinate closely with various other teams and value streams when necessary.
  • Performs technical triage on system applications and incidents to diagnose root cause of issues and identify and / or implement resolutions within the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or any other agreed upon timeframes.
  • Creating or changing WRICEF (workflows, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms) objects using SAP ABAP. Implementing enhancement spots, user exits, function exits, Badis etc. Using enhancement framework in SAP ABAP.
  • Creating or changing ABAP programs using logical database (LDB) if the need arises.
  • Developing function modules, RFC enabled function modules, APIs, module pool programs, calling BAPIs in custom programs.
  • Developing programs using Object Oriented (OOP) concept in SAP ABAP.
  • Creating LSMW or BDC program for migrating data in SAP system.
  • Creating interface program (inbound & outbound) using IDOC, flat files.
  • Trouble shooting and resolving production issues by debugging and following an agreed upon plan of action before making changes in existing programs and implementing solutions into the production landscape.
  • Developing programs and applications using SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, ODATA services.
  • Collaborating with process owners, users, Business Analysts, and IT staff to coordinate business simulation testing.
  • Resolving the defects that are raised during the testing with the help of the functional as well as business team.
  • Creating/changing various transactions, error handling and adding restriction via customization.
  • Monitoring interfaces with legacy systems.
  • Performance tuning of existing transactions and reports.
  • Debugging and performance tuning of the development and error handling.
  • Assist with upgrades, new releases and monitor performance of the technical objects.
  • Work closely with counterparts in Bangalore and the US to ensure fluid communication of issues, processes, and status.
  • Be part of a rotating on-call schedule with other colleagues to handle production errors and other incident tickets.   
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, plus eight (8) years of experience in the job offered or a related position.
  • Must have six (6) years of experience with WRICEF (workflows, reports, Interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms) objects in Reports, ALV Reports, Module Pool Programs, Interfaces (FILE & EDI INTERFACES, BAPI), Conversion (BDC, LSMW), Enhancement (IMPLICIT/EXPLICIT, USER EXIT), RFC Calls, LDB Related Programs, ABAP QUERY, OO ABAP, ABAP/4, SAP Data Migration, SMARTFORMS, SAP SCRIPT, ADOBE Forms and Screen Persona, ABAP WebDynpro.
  • Must have five (5) years of experience with SAP Interfaces including EDI (electronic data interchange), API (application programming interface), XML IDOC (intermediate document).
  • Must have any experience with ABAP COCKPIT (ATC) Tool; SAP Workflow Configuration, Design, Development, Troubleshooting; SAP S/4HANA, SAP FIORI, SAP FIORI Development, SAPUI5 AND O-DATA Services; Eclipse SAP ADT (ABAP Development Tools), Solution Manager, ChaRM.
  • Experience with FI, CD and ICM SAP modules is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Cloud Development a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft products including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Sharepoint, etc. Experience with browsers such as Edge and Chrome. Experience using Jira and Service Now.
