Principal Engineer, Product

Location: Dong Nai, Vietnam

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for: 

  Drive product validation, failure analysis, yield improvement, cost reduction, and manufacturing readiness to achieve project objectives. 

  Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineers while fostering team capability development.

  Oversee project execution to ensure technical issues are resolved effectively and project targets for quality, cost, delivery, and productivity are achieved. 

  Ensure compliance with company policies, quality, safety, environmental, and intellectual property requirements

• Lead and manage: 

  Lead and provide technical direction for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from design transfer through mass production. 

Education & Experience

 

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science is required. Major in Physics, Applied Physics, optics, optical communication, Materials Science & Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is an advantage.
• Minimum relevant experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree: 9 years
  • Master’s degree: 7 years
  • Ph.D.: 4 years;
• Experience in NPI or Engineering within an international manufacturing environment

 

Skills

 

• Ability to recommend and implement improvements.
• Good communication skills in both English and Chinese.
• Good team player with hard working attitude.
• Must be self-motivated with capability working under pressure. 
• Data analysis by JMP or Mini-tab.
• Familiar with OSA product structure.
• Experience and Ideas to drive Product Cost down.
• Handle special assignments promptly and professionally.
• Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency.
• Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
• Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.

Working Conditions

 

• Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, etc.

Product Introduction period. Coach and guide Junior engineers for team growth in technical wise. Project technical leader for new product transfer from design to mass production, to ensure that all new products meet specified requirements, the budget cost and the transfer timeline. He/she will be accountable for product validation, failure analysis, test debug, yield improvement, cost down activities, coordination and trouble shooting.
