Description

As Engineering Manager, Tactical Drone Applications, you will lead a product-oriented team which focuses on designing, implementing and deploying end-to-end tactical workflows.  With a focus on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) functionality you will deliver state of the art technology for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platforms.  You will direct a cross functional team of UI, Flight Control, Embedded and Test engineers to work hand in hand with our drone OEM partners to solve challenging problems and deliver amazing experiences to our customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and manage a team of exceptional engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high levels of motivation, productivity, and collaboration.
  • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Drive the development of new features, improvements, and innovations in drone technology to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Coordinate with external partners and manufacturers to ensure seamless integration of drone systems.
  • Implement and maintain robust testing and quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability, safety, and performance of drone systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to solve complex technical challenges related to drone design, propulsion systems, sensors, and control systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and team members, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in leading engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering robotic systems (ideally UAS) on significant government programs.
  • Applies engineering strategies to meet business needs and resolve technical constraints. 
  • Proficient in C/C++ development on Windows, Android and Linux platforms.
  • Experience with Qt / QML framework.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to keep a global team fully informed.
  • Willingness to travel and meet with end customers including into elevated risk areas.
  • Former US military/veterans strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with the QGC and PX4 ecosystem is a plus.
