How will you make an impact in this role?

Most of our software development focuses on delivery new features while optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation. As part of the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges at scale which are unique to American Express, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be a part of a global Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization, and partner with the Core Engineering and Platform Teams. You will work with engineering and product partners to ensure alignment between the organizations and contribute to the key strategic efforts. In this role, you will model and mentor talent across the pillars to ensure SRE is influential across the substantial product area engineering efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on support for the runtime operation of our applications, ensuring high availability and performance acting as the first line of defense for the organization
• Will be part of an on call rotation spanning weekends and holidays.
• Introduce new and impactful technologies to the production support tool chain to help minimize friction for production releases and that results in quick diagnosis and recovery from production incidents.
• Act as primary escalation point from support teams in helping to make decisions to restore service and minimize impact to availability.
• Collaborate with software engineering and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve runtime issues, including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and system failures.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to proactively identify and address potential runtime issues.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis efforts to ensure the stability and resilience of the applications.
• Manage your own time and work well both independently and as part of a team.

• Experience working in a startup is preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree
• 3+ years of work experience in DevOps/Site Reliability Engineering.
• Experience with Python
• Experience supporting Java/J2EE/REACT JS applications, and Node applications
• Experience with Public Cloud technologies GCP, AWS, AZURE/ Kubernetes, Openshift, Docker etc.
• Hands on experience on enterprise tools set such as Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, BMC, Prometheus etc.
• Knowledge on Unix shell scripting, PERL or Python programming is a must
• Experience in handling DDoS/BOT attack and different security remediations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands on experience on enterprise tools set such as Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, BMC, Prometheus etc
• Working experience with Network load balancers, Global Traffic Managers (GTMs), Local Traffic Managers (LTMs)
• Hands on experience with CICD technologies such as Circle CI, Jenkins, Github Actions
• Working experience on network rules creation, load balancer configurations, network packet analysis
• Good understanding of Linux OS internals, performance tools, Core commands, security etc.
• Experience on supporting three tier architecture which includes exposure to databases such IBM DB2, Couchbase, Mongo, Redis etc.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
