The Principal Software Engineer will be a member of an Agile team that is building cloud-native Data, Analytics and ML-Ops applications, API’s and Services that are on the cutting edge of technology. These products are at the heart of what we offer to our advisors and their clients. We are a Hybrid work environment in Weston, MA and require candidates to be available onsite 2 days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and implement cloud-native Data, Analytics, and ML-Ops products
- Liaise and collaborate closely with all functions within the business to create and establish scalable and durable engineering solutions
- Design engineering solutions while documenting architectural models and vision
- Understand and influence technical trends, provide engineering leadership to continually improve and increase the competitive advantage of the product
- Serve as a technical leader: working closely with cross-functional technical staff, delivering software within complex problem spaces, having long-term impact on product and architecture
- Manage large scale applications and services, capabilities, and overall performance within the product
- Using best practices, document and maintain software functionality
- Take responsibility for technical decisions from concept to implementation
- Act as a technical mentor to develop and support team members by assisting in product design efforts and continuously identifying ways to improve overall team success the performance and productivity of the team
- Lead multiple projects inside of the team and delegate tasks to team members
Preferred strengths
- Experience with full-stack development in Python and/or JavaScript / node.js
- Experience implementing data analytics / business dashboard applications
Requirements, skills, and knowledge
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building complex solutions
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering and/or equivalent industry experience
- Experience serving as technical expert throughout the full software development lifecycle: conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, and maintenance
- Expert knowledge of Python, JavaScript, .Net, Database technologies, Kubernetes, Azure
- Familiarity with Angular or other modern front-end libraries/frameworks
- Experience implementing business critical database applications, micro-services and/or long-running backend data processing applications
- A leader in coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Expert use with Jira, Confluence, and other related technologies
- Ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences
