About the team

The GTM team works on the cutting edge of mobile development at Zillow contributing to and leveraging the latest native app development paradigms in collaboration with the Zillow Mobile App Platform team.
GTM has shipped features enabling our users to see tour date/time availability and book tours in real time (RTT = Real Time Touring) without the need for interaction with agents to conduct this booking.
We were the team in Zillow that pioneered and perfected the use of Server-driven UI (CMS pattern) to drive fully native Mobile UI in a highly iterable manner, allowing the business to experiment and adapt content and copy without requiring potentially time-consuming app releases each time. We are adapting these patterns to all of our forms to move more quickly in the future.
We have been early contributors to and extensive users of our Zillow Constellation UI frameworks and design patterns ensuring all features we build are in sync with our design philosophy and experience language in the app.
We extensively use Swift, Swift UI, Combine, and Apollo/GraphQL for our networking stack.
We are leveraging Snapshot testing to validate UI and JSON request payloads.
We are leveraging the XCUITest framework for headless UI testing.

About the role

Technical responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining highly modular, independent components for booking tours, contacting agents, and establishing relationships for our end users with Zillow’s Premier Agents.

  • Helping us to re-architect the Zillow iOS Touring codebase to support isolated “micro frontends” within a shared application shell. The end goal is to build shared components that can be used in feature flows originating in different parts of the app.

  • Develop and maintain an automated testing suite which:

    • Tracks automation coverages over time

    • Executes automation tests regularly

    • Has strong automation coverage for new feature sets, and backfills automation coverages for older feature sets

    • Balances automated coverages between various automation solutions (E2E UI tests, snapshot tests, headless UI testing, unit testing)

  • Architecting and building modular feature sets and example projects for a variety of product features.

  • Building and maintaining exhaustive documentation on the various feature flows, shared components, libraries and frameworks that the team owns.

  • Following evolving industry trends for iOS app and SDK development, and proposing adoption of new technologies, methodologies, and design principles – such as SwiftUI, Combine, Swift Concurrency, etc

  • Maintaining and improving build speed, reliability, start-up performance for each of the UI components that we own.

  • Utilizing our shared ZG Mobile tools to maintain our ability to build, test, ship, release, and observe the performance of our features post release.

Team responsibilities:

  • Help inform our roadmap and steer evolution of our products.

  • Introducing new features and improvements while minimizing breaking changes to our API contracts.

  • Integrating with Zillow Group shared API services.

  • Building relationships with neighboring teams GTM works closely with.

  • Participating in weekly team architecture meetings and demos.

  • Providing design and code review feedback.

  • Maintain sole ownership of designated tasks and require minimal intervention for successful execution

  • Help establish team norms and processes in order to benefit the consistency and efficiency in team operations.

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico, but preferably in Mexico City, as we would encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Able to create clarity from ambiguity - someone who we expect will be able to break down and estimate large projects and drive clarity for projects which lack definition.

  • Someone eager to learn.

  • Detail oriented - someone who strives for feature quality, code quality, and general codebase health.

  • Able to create clear and complete development designs.

  • Experience with leading initiatives on their own.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Swift and commonly used iOS SDKs (Foundation, SwiftUI, UIKit, URLSession, Concurrency, Core Data, etc).

  • Delivered at least one feature to the iOS App Store from ideation to production release

  • Experience building, testing, publishing, and maintaining reusable components in iOS apps

  • Experience with SPM and the Swift + Xcode build system to package and distribute iOS libraries.

  • Experience collaborating with product managers and designers.

  • Ability to comprehend and compose clear documentation.

  • Understanding of iOS performance considerations and best practices

  • Familiarity with monitoring and debugging a wide variety of issues, such as crashes, memory leaks, main thread checking, scroll performance, layout issues, and more.

  • Experience with building and running unit tests, using mocks, and dependency injection where applicable.

  • Experience building and running UI Automation tests

  • Experience with improving performance in iOS apps and frameworks
