Zendesk Explore (https://www.zendesk.com/explore/) is our latest analytics product. It is a complex business intelligence application, serving 100,000 customers and utilising data from over 500 million Zendesk users and 40+ external data source connectors. Explore is responsible for ingesting millions of records from the Zendesk product family and allowing them to be queried and visualised at low latency - and all that at internet scale! 

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help take Zendesk products to the next level. Explore is a reporting and analytics application that provides analytics for Zendesk data. You’ll have the skills, experience, wisdom, patience, and determination to work with the team to meet our customer's needs.

What you get to do every day

  • Work collaboratively with a small, focused and self-organising team to deliver positive outcomes for our many customers.

  • Work on a large scope of performance projects: analytics queries executor, performance / benchmarking tooling for analytics and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL

  • Ship your code to production continuously and improve the experience of Zendesk customers.

  • To gain an in-depth understanding of analytics core product and architecture, and acts as an ambassador for software solutions offering support and mentorship to colleagues.

What you bring to the role 

  • 8+ years of professional experience.

  • Prior experience with building analytics software.

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience with relational database management systems, ideally PostgreSQL.

  • Strong engineering, architecture experience and extensive knowledge in designing infrastructure for microservices.

  • Professional knowledge and experience of commonly used technologies like Docker, SQL and best practices.

  • Experienced in ensuring observability to capture business centric metrics for high throughput applications and underlying infrastructure, this way allowing us to upheld our reliability posture.

  • An ability to mentor other engineers, host knowledge-sharing sessions and act as an advocate for best tech practices.

  • An agile mindset with ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with AWS.

Tech Stack

  • Our code is written in Ruby, Scala, Typescript.

  • Our batch data pipeline is using Spark

  • Our real-time pipeline is using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink & Redis

  • Our infrastructure runs on AWS ECS clusters and we maintain our infrastructure using Terraform.

  • Our data are stored in AWS Aurora PostgreSQL

  • We are also using AWS Aurora MySQL as application databases

  • We are using Github Actions as part of our CI/CD process.

  • Datadog is our tool for monitoring and logging.

The Poland annualized base salary range for this position is zł268,000.00-zł402,000.00. Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
