The ideal candidate will participate in the product development process from concept to product launch. As an Advanced Systems Engineer you will have knowledge and experience in Fixed Industrial Scanning and be able to participate in the product development process from concept to market launch.

 

The emphasis will be on developing, designing, evaluating, and/or modification of the solution to ensure it will be consistent with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.  They will be responsible for the design of the system architecture and ensure its integrity. Their contribution will ensure that the product at the sub-system and system level meets or exceeds performance targets, will meet high quality standards, and will maintain performance targets under manufacturing process variation at high volume. They must possess a solid analytical and practical knowledge of systems spanning electrical, software/OS design, and mechanical design components and an understanding of a product development process.

 

This is a hybrid onsite position that is available either in Montreal QC OR Mississauga, ON.


Responsibilities:
  • Establishes requirements for complex system design projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Ensure correct features are incorporated into a range of products and solutions for the Fixed Industrial Scanning market.
  • Works closely with Product Management, Applications Engineering and Sales teams to ensure the product requirements will meet the true needs of our customers. 
  • Architects and designs complex systems. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities.
  • Develops and applies technical and quality improvements.
  • Helps define new programs, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Ensures innovative ideas and methodologies are utilized by engineering teams.
  • Uses status as a knowledge leader in Fixed Industrial Scanning system design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to provide technical leadership to a given program.
  • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems.
  • Initiates cross-team collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.
  • May coordinate the activities of other personnel.
  • Networks with key contacts outside of their own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.  

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Able to clearly communicate complex concepts to broadly diverse audiences and guide both local and remote teams in achieving their goals.
  • Experienced in defining system requirements from complex customer use cases.
  • Strong ability to present detailed information at the appropriate level.    
  • Background in complex Software Projects, understanding of Machine Vision Systems.
  • Ability to work internal stake holders and external customers.
  • Experience in product development effort that ultimately led to a successful Market launch/customer delivery.
  • Solid analytical and practical knowledge of Fixed Industrial Scanning systems spanning electrical, software/OS design, and mechanical design components and an understanding of a product development process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to clearly communicate complex concepts to broadly diverse audiences and guide both local and remote teams in achieving their goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to present detailed information at the appropriate level
  • Successfully held a recent role as a System Engineer working on a product development effort that ultimately led to a successful market launch/customer delivery 
  • Recent experience in the full lifecycle (cradle to grave) development of Enterprise class productivity devices and/or the associated application ecosystem is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of the Agile development process
  • Experience in hardware design and implementation
  • Recent working knowledge of Machine Vision Systems/ Fixed Industrial Systems.
