Analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains software for the organization's products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to maintain throughput and program consistency. Develops, validates, and tests: structures and user documentation. Work may be reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy. Follows established processes and directions.


Responsibilities:

– Designs, develops, and tests on a variety of software assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project.

– Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific software functionality.

– Lead the development and customization of a feature for the Android BSP for specific hardware platforms. This involves working closely with hardware engineers, understanding the system architecture, and creating a robust BSP that integrates with the underlying hardware components.

– Creates new features, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Ensures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by software teams.

– Uses status as a knowledge leader in software design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to provide technical leadership to a given feature.

– Interface with system engineers, product managers, program management and system testing teams and initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.

– Networks with key contacts outside area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership.

– As a feature lead need to understand and have the working knowledge to configure and customize the Linux kernel to support the target hardware. This may includes working with various component vendors to get the appropriate drivers to support the platform.

– Work with internal and external partners to do initial board bring up activities for new product introduction (NPI).

– As a SW feature leader, you are expected to work with internal and external parties to integrate the appropriate SW modules to the BSP.

– Carry out code and design reviews of components that are integrated/submitted to the BSP.

– Different products you would work on will be for different segments/domains hence will have different performance criteria and you are expected to work with a team to optimize these parameters to get the best possible performance criteria possible for the product.

– Coordinating BSP releases, version control, and maintaining repositories are part of your responsibilities.

– Be able to do initial level triaging investigation when an issue is reported before the issue is assigned to a designated engineer.

– Defect management, maintain defect dashboards, assess issues, and assign priorities, arrange bug scrubs when necessary

– Lead reviews with internal and external teams and represent the team when supporting customer issues and queries.

– Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.


Qualifications:

 

 

-Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline required.

– Minimum of 2+ years of work experience

– Have prior hands-on experience with Android BSP development and has 1+ years’ experience Customizing and Porting of Android OS Stack

– Proficient in Java/Kotlin/C/C++

– Prior experience working on Qualcomm architecture is highly desired

– Agile Scrum development methodologies

– Good Knowledge on operating systems, Linux kernel, bootloaders, power management

– Understanding on I2C, SPI, USB, RS232 Protocols

– Familiar with Android build tool chain

– Working knowledge of JIRA, Git/Gerrit

– Android Studio and basic App development knowledge
