The Sales Engineering Organization provides presale technical support to the sales team and end user customers, primarily engaged in all facets of presales technical engagements, ranging from demonstrations, proof of concepts, lab and pilot test implementations, request for proposal (RFP) responses, and initial implementation troubleshooting.
The Sales Engineer Senior Manager (SE Senior Manager) is a player-coach role directly managing a small team of Sales Engineers. The SE Senior Manager provides leadership in supporting technology and sales strategies. This position recruits, retains, develops, coaches, motivates, and leads Sale Engineers to attain/exceed defined business objectives such as revenue, market share, profit, etc.
Combining sales, technical, and leadership expertise, the SE Senior Manager is a blended salary and commission compensated leadership role. The ideal candidate has well established coaching/mentoring skills and helps others attain sales/technology success. The SE Senior Manager participates in overall business planning, anticipates customer needs and works to define innovative solutions; develops strong relationships with corporate-level executives, business partners and industry influencers; leads, documents and communicates the creation of innovative solutions for others to sell. Understands the solution and product portfolio well and knows how to win relative to the competition; teaches others same.
This remote role must reside in the US near a major metropolitan airport with the ability to travel nationwide 25% or as business dictates.
Responsibilities:
- Drive team to meet or exceed assigned sales goals.
- Leader in setting vision and strategies for the organization aligning to the 3-5 year business plan.
- Foster teamwork globally; build and lead effective teams committed to organizational goals; encourage collaboration and the use of teams to address relevant business and customer goals.
- Provide leadership in establishing performance guidelines/baselines for the Presales Technical Organization.
- Provide a forward-looking vision for educational developmental programs to grow knowledge base of the Presales Technical Organization.
- Determines and pursues courses of action essential in obtaining desired outcomes and operates with broad autonomy to make decisions that impact sales effectiveness.
- Coach and develop staff; provide performance management, development planning, salary planning and technical training.
- Recruit, hire, and retain the right people for permanent and temporary assignments.
- Create an atmosphere in which timely and high-quality information flows smoothly between corporate business units, field employees, and management.
- Work with peers in order to leverage ideas, implement them, and share triumphs and failures as learning tools.
- Plan, organize, and direct the activities of a variety of corporate and non-sales support groups to ensure the customer technical requirements are met.
- Responsible for the overseeing the technical ownership and collaboration with sales leadership and business partners in applying a systems concept.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience
- 8 + years in a related technical pre-sales role (Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Solution Architect, Pre-Sales Engineer) in industrial automation
- Current/previous experience managing a team (ideally of sales engineers or similar)
- Must reside in the US near a major metro airport with the ability to travel nationwide 25% or as business dictates

- In-depth understanding and experience in providing strategic leadership to presales technical managers and their teams.
- Full knowledge of all relevant business policies and practices.
- Has knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.
- Thorough competitive knowledge including solutions, technology and product offerings.
- Creates business and industry solutions strategy, often crossing multiple lines of business
- Possesses a solid knowledge and experience of customer management practices.
- Leads problem resolution, identifies appropriate resources, mitigates future risk

Salary: USD 141300.00 - USD 211900.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
