Senior Cloud Network Engineer II

Job Functions & Responsibilities

Strategy and Design (30%)

· Design and implement scalable and secure network architectures in AWS, with an emphasis on high availability and performance.

· Develop networking best practices for multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) to ensure seamless integration.

· Research and assess emerging cloud networking technologies to enhance security, cost efficiency, and performance.

· Collaborate with SREs, Security, and Application teams to ensure network solutions align with business needs and security policies.

· Contribute to network automation strategy and design using Python and Terraform to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Implementation and Deployment (50%)

· Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS networking services such as VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, Security Groups, NACLs, and Load Balancers.

· Troubleshoot complex BGP routing issues and network connectivity problems in cloud environments.

· Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls for cloud security, including integration with AWS security services.

· Implement network monitoring solutions to ensure uptime, performance, and proactive issue detection.

· Serve as the escalation point for advanced cloud networking issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime (On-call).

· Work with cross-functional teams to optimize connectivity between on-premises networks and cloud environments.

Process Improvement & Automation (20%)

· Utilize Python and Terraform to automate network configurations and deployments.

· Enhance GitLab-based CI/CD workflows to streamline networking changes and improve operational efficiency.

· Develop monitoring dashboards and alerts using network telemetry tools to improve visibility and troubleshooting.

· Improve incident response procedures and documentation for cloud network operations.

 

Qualifications

Must Have:

Cloud Networking Expertise: Strong understanding of AWS networking, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and BGP. Networking Fundamentals: Deep knowledge of IPv4 networking, subnetting, routing, and security best practices. Programming & Automation: Proficiency in Python for automating networking tasks and configurations. Security & Firewalls: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and cloud security policies.

Nice to Have:

Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with GitLab for managing infrastructure as code and deployments. Networking Hardware: Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper systems, and FortiNet firewalls. Multi-Cloud Exposure: Experience with Azure or GCP networking. Advanced Networking: Understanding of IPv6 networking and Web Application Firewalls (WAFs). Network Monitoring: Knowledge of network observability tools and protocols for cloud environments. Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform for cloud network infrastructure provisioning.

Working Relationships

· Internal: Works closely with Cloud Architects, SREs, Security Engineers, and Application Teams.

· External: Engages with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and networking/security vendors (Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet).

 

Education & Experience

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

· 5-7 years of experience in cloud networking, network security, and network automation.

· Participating in an on-call rotation

· Working with a distributed workforce across the globe

· Troubleshooting and problem solving of complex networks

· Working independently on complex problems with minimal supervision

· Great team player, can take others along with them on tasks while also executing independently

· Sharing knowledge and can coach/mentor more junior team members

Salary Range: $118,600 to $139,400  annually + bonus eligibility. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Our dynamic Cloud Architecture and Security team is seeking a skilled Senior Cloud Network Engineer to help design, implement, and optimize cloud-based networking solutions for Yum Brands’ global infrastructure. These networks power critical business applications, restaurant operations, and corporate environments across AWS, with additional integrations into Azure and GCP. This is a high-impact role that involves hands-on network design, security enforcement, and automation, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment. You’ll work closely with Cloud Architects, Security Engineers, DevOps, and Application Teams to build resilient, high-performance cloud networks that support our global operations.
