Join KFC as a Junior Site Reliability Engineer and help keep our tech systems running as smoothly as our famous Original Recipe! In this role, you’ll work with senior engineers to troubleshoot complex systems, boost observability, and deliver on-time, blameless root cause analyses (RCAs). You’ll be an essential part of our 24/7 support team, managing KFC’s network and liaising with key service providers like Comcast. What You’ll Serve Up:
- Participate in a rotational on-call system to provide 24/7/365 infrastructure support.
- Troubleshoot complex distributed systems, leveraging KFC knowledgebases to address incidents like e-commerce and network outages.
- Deliver timely root cause analyses and corrective actions after critical incidents.
- Collaborate with senior SREs to automate repetitive tasks, reduce TOIL, and develop tools that improve efficiency.
- Monitor KFC environments using observability tools like New Relic and SolarWinds to proactively identify and address issues.
- Serve as an escalation point for the KFC Help Desk, supporting availability incidents through remote tools and direct outreach to stakeholders, including Franchisees and Restaurant Managers.
- Coordinate with vendors and escalate incidents as needed, maintaining communication with providers to resolve chronic issues and streamline problem-solving.
The Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years in IT with experience in bash and/or Linux command-line utilities.
- Understanding of web fundamentals, including JavaScript, REST APIs, GraphQL, and Git.
- Familiarity with observability tools (New Relic, DataDog, Dynatrace) and programming languages like Python, Go, or PowerShell.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and focus on long-term goals.
- Experience with incident and problem-tracking systems (e.g., ServiceNOW, Jira).
- Working knowledge of remote control applications (e.g., pcAnywhere, Bomgar) and remote monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) is a plus.
