About the role
You will collaborate with product and design teams to build high-value features, drive the evolution of our architecture and system, and ensure the availability, scalability, and efficiency of our services.
You'll also be central to how YouGov builds with AI. We're embedding AI tools and thinking across engineering — not as a box-ticking exercise, but to genuinely free up engineers to focus on work that matters most. You'll help the engineering team in the effort to spot where AI can automate or accelerate tasks, champion best practices, and bring people along on the journey to becoming an AI-enabled organisation.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do:
Work on impactful projects with high volumes of production traffic.
Produce simple, maintainable code while always looking to improve it.
Define testing strategies and write automated tests.
Own your code all the way to production with a self-service continuous delivery pipeline and production infrastructure.
Run what you build using containers orchestration and monitoring technologies.
Perform code-reviews promptly, regularly and constructively.
Use modern AI tools such as Claude Code to enhance engineering productivity (e.g., coding, testing, documentation).
Help identify opportunities where modern technologies can help streamline workflows or reduce manual effort.
Support a positive cultural shift toward responsible, effective AI adoption across engineering teams.
Stay curious about emerging technologies and bring relevant improvements into the team.
These are the essentials you’ll need for having an interview:
Exposure to AI tools to boost efficiency and support engineering tasks.
A proactive, curious mindset toward adopting new technologies responsibly and ethically.
Good understanding of modern testing principles.
You have at least 5 years of experience working with similar tech-stack.
Significant experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Very good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with a highly distributed microservices architecture.
Advanced knowledge of Python and some of the main web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django, CherryPy).
Experience with MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL.
Nice-to-have skills:
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to end user.
Experience participating in mitigating technical debt.
Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies.
Ability to think abstractly and deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems.
1+ years working remotely in a global environment.
