As a remote backend engineer, you'll play a crucial role in powering our websites and mobile apps, bringing Yelp’s reviews and insights to millions of users. What you'll do: Collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience. Build new features on top of our Service-oriented Architecture. Iterate quickly using Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment principles. Articulate a technical vision and execute it. Help adopt and extend Yelp’s AI-leveraged backend systems Give back by mentoring other engineers and sharing the skills you learn. What it takes to succeed: Several years of relevant industry experience. In-depth experience with building effective APIs (like REST or GraphQL). Relevant experience in at least one server-side programming language. Strong collaboration and communication skills demonstrated through effective teamwork across design, product, and engineering teams. An eagerness to learn and embrace scalability, reliability, and performance challenges. What you'll get: Compensation range is $101,000-237,000 annually. Depending on your role and level, you may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across Canada.
