Job description
Xshore is hiring a Mechanical Engineer — a full-time, based in Nyköping role. Apply directly on Xshore's careers page below.
Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
X Shore's existing CAD models and assemblies don't fully reflect what's actually being built on the factory floor — data has drifted from production reality, making it hard to trust drawings, plan rework, or hand off clean information to manufacturing. We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to audit and rebuild that CAD data, get it aligned with how boats are actually produced, and then move on to design work on X Shore's next-generation boat platform.
This is a hands-on role in two phases. First, you'll dig into existing CAD, correct what's out of sync with production, and work closely with the shop floor to close the gap between design intent and built reality. Once that foundation is solid, you'll shift into forward-looking platform design for future boats. You'll report to the Mechanical Engineering & Analysis Manager and be based on-site in Nyköping.
Key Responsibilities
Audit existing CAD models and assemblies for accuracy, completeness, and structure
Rebuild or correct CAD data that no longer reflects what's actually being built in production
Align CAD assemblies and drawings with current production reality, working directly with the shop floor
Identify and resolve discrepancies between design intent and manufactured parts
Maintain clean, well-structured CAD/PDM practices going forward
Support production with drawings, tolerances, and design clarifications during rework and manufacturing
Once alignment work is complete, contribute to the design and detailing of X Shore's next-generation boat platform
Collaborate with electrical, production, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
Required Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
3-5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in a manufacturing environment
Expert-level SOLIDWORKS proficiency — this is a must-have, including assemblies, drawings, and PDM
Demonstrated experience auditing, cleaning up, or rebuilding CAD data and assemblies
Comfortable working directly with production to resolve build discrepancies
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
Ability to work on-site in Nyköping
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with composites and/or metals typical of marine or automotive manufacturing
Background in boat building, automotive, or another complex hardware environment
Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
Experience contributing to a new product platform from early concept through release
Personal Qualities
Detail-oriented and methodical, comfortable untangling messy legacy data without losing momentum. Equally at home on the shop floor verifying fit as at a CAD workstation. Takes ownership, follows through, and communicates clearly across engineering and production.
Success Metrics (First 12 Months)
CAD data and assemblies for existing boats are audited, corrected, and aligned with what's built in production
Production has accurate, trustworthy drawings and models to work from
Discrepancies between design and manufactured parts are identified and resolved
Meaningful contribution made to next-generation boat platform design
Location & Structure
On-site at X Shore Factory & HQ, Nyköping. Reports to the Mechanical Engineering & Analysis Manager.
