TEAM
The Enterprise Technology Engineering Team builds solutions that enhance developer productivity, so developers can focus on their true passion – software development. We provide tools to automate deploying artifacts to cloud, mobile devices, and vehicles, to meet vehicle security certifications and support testing and simulation. Our mission is to make software development for Woven by Toyota and the greater Toyota organization as a whole more productive and efficient.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a Team Lead for our Multi-Cloud Kubernetes Platform Team to guide the evolution of our automated software development platform. You will collaborate with multiple teams, manage your team, and work closely with management to execute our vision. We need a leader who can act as a career manager for team members, manage stakeholder communication, and partner with our product manager to execute roadmap items based on prioritization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the Kubernetes platform team to design and implement technical solutions, addressing complex challenges in collaboration with multiple business teams.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to the Director of Platform Engineering and other leaders around technology strategy, implementation, and product roadmaps.
  • Work with Product Management to accurately determine the scope of product features in the roadmap, provide reliable estimates, and devise comprehensive plans for engineering tasks ensuring execution aligns with the priorities and timelines set by Product Management.
  • Collaborate with Security Specialists, Enterprise Architects and domain experts to ensure solution security, compliance, reliability, efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability.
  • Create Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for new solutions, technology patterns, and tool onboarding, aiding our governance teams in their usage.
  • Work with Technical Project Managers (TPMs) to accomplish larger projects, taking ownership of the technical solutioning aspects.
  • Mentor team members, promoting a culture of learning and growth.
  • Act as a liaison between the team, management, and other departments to proliferate the usage of the platform.
  • Work closely with the SRE team to manage the operations of the platform in accordance with SLA promises.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced experience with Kubernetes and multi-cloud service mesh architectures and their foundational technologies.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on architectural design, collaboration, and technical leadership. We require experience using modern tools like Python, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
  • Expertise in software architecture patterns, cloud-native technologies, and microservices architecture.
  • Proven ability to manage a team and work efficiently with management and other departments.
  • Experience driving innovation and continuous improvement in an organization using English.

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Security best practices knowledge.
  • Experience as a technical leader or architect in a similar domain.
  • Experience working with product managers to execute roadmap items.
  • Ability to optimize solutions for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Business-level Japanese.
