Arene’s mission is to empower Toyota and its partners to deliver next-generation vehicles with hardware agnostic software that can be updated to support new features at any time.
The Arene Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Team is a sub-team of Arene Engineering Platform, whose mission is to define, develop, and evangelize sound operational processes and tooling to ensure system stability, observability, and compliance with organizational standards to enable service owners to operate their services.
We define the change management process for Arene products, assist teams with aligning to operational standards, and build tooling to empower developers to deploy and manage services at scale. We practice a culture of continuous improvement and blameless postmortems.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about operational excellence and automation. As a system support engineer in the Arene SRE team, you will maintain 3rd party applications used in Arene. This will include deploying applications in public cloud providers or on-prem environments with high availability and reliability, being responsible for regular updates and maintenance, setting up observability for the application, responding to support requests and incidents, and doing disaster recovery. These operations need to follow best practices such as infrastructure as code (IaC), monitoring as code, and CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
You will report to the SRE Manager. This role's workplace onsite in Japan, working in the office at least 3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teammates are expected to work beyond JD responsibilities whenever possible to help achieve the mission.
・Architect deployments on public cloud and on-prem environments for 3rd party applications
・Implement and Improve new / existing codebase and deployment pipelines
・Solve issues with cloud infrastructure in data storage, compute performance, routing, and networking
・Monitor infrastructure health and cost, and propose solutions to improve both
・Maintain and upgrade infrastructure with minimal to zero downtime
・Perform performance tuning and optimization
・Maintain documentation of systems and architecture
・Communicate and work with a global team while providing immediate support for North American affiliates
・Mentor and support junior members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
・You are required to have PwD (People with Disabilities) handbook from Japanese government
・Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
・3+ years of experience architecting, deploying, and operating solutions built on AWS, GCP, or Azure
・3+ years of experience writing code in Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, or a similar language
・Experience with Linux server administration
・Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, including (but not limited to):
・Container and Container Orchestration tools (such as Docker and Kubernetes)
・CI/CD (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions)
・Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
・Analytics and Monitoring tools (Grafana, ELK, Splunk, and DataDog)
・Analyze requirements, design and implement solutions to automate routine tasks
・Clear interest in DevOps (and/or SRE) topics such as automation, application/platform management, and observability
