MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
・Currently pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree with an expected graduation through to the end of March 2027
※Must be in school until the end of internship program
・Must be available for a 3-month on-site internship in 2025
・Have no more than 24 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience)
・Overseas Students (Based outside of Japan) who require visa support must meet one of the following requirements:
　　・The internship program is part of your education and essential for your graduation
　　・This internship allows you to receive some credit(s) for your education program
　　・Have Bachelor degree at the time of application

WORKING CONDITIONS
・Start Date: June 1, 2025,  August 1, 2025
・Internship Duration: 3 months 
・Expected work hours: 5 days (40 hours/week), depending on visa and class scheduling, some flexibility for shorter hours may be available
・Salary Type: Hourly wage

TEAM
The Map Delivery Platform team in Tokyo, Japan, is a culturally diverse team developing software for autonomous driving (AD) and advanced driver assistance (ADAS) systems. Our exports develop cutting-edge technology for the next-generation AD/ADAS platform, building components deployed to both Cloud and vehicles. The team is responsible for map over-the-air updates, efficient processing of large datasets, and integrating with other components of the AD/ADAS stack. We apply state-of-the-art technology, write high quality safety-critical code that gets deployed to production.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an intern to work with us on the development of mapping-related features in both vehicle and cloud side. The intern will support the development of Map OTA, integration of the maps with other teams and software development in C++ and Python.  The candidate will work in the Map Services Vehicle team, and will be responsible for optimizing the data transfer from the cloud to the vehicle to reduce mobile network data costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with an international team to evaluate different formats for map OTA data to optimize bandwidth usage when downloading map data to the vehicle (60%)
  • Simulate the map OTA service with the new protocol  (10%)
  • Write, test and simulate map OTA in cloud systems (10%)
  • Identify and debug issues, and work with the team in finding solutions (20%)
  • 国際チームと協力して、車両への地図データダウンロード時の帯域幅使用量を最適化するため、地図OTAデータの異なるフォーマットを評価する（60%）

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Field of Study: Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Focus Area: Automotive Engineering
  • Analytical thinking, responsible and self-motivating, with the ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Experience in C/C++
  • Experience in Python
  • Experience in Embedded Systems
  • Good command of English
