TEAM
Arene’s goal is to open vehicle programming to everyone by simplifying vehicle software development and increasing deployment frequency without compromising safety and security. This will create a whole new market of vehicle application developers who, through software, integrate a vehicle into our daily lives in novel ways. Arene aims to significantly improve how vehicles are designed and developed, and we’re working closely with Toyota to realize this goal in its next-generation vehicles.
The Arene Software Validation Platform team’s mission is to streamline software delivery and enhance operational speed in the automotive industry by developing innovative test, emulation, and simulation systems. We aim to facilitate quicker software releases and elevate the overall quality of automotive solutions, maintaining an uncompromised commitment to safety. The Arene organization is growing and we are establishing an engineering center in Ann Arbor, MI to strengthen our global team.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for software engineers who are excited to help build a state-of-the-art automotive platform that is “software first”. We envision the Arene platform will change the way vehicles are made. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our team is developing tools and systems using modern software techniques. We need software engineers who excel at building robust software systems to solve challenging problems at scale. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with teams in Tokyo on integrations and overlapping work  
  • Design and deliver systems & software for simulation, testing, integration, and validation of the automotive software
  • Design and build backend services and APIs in Golang and other languages
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Helm and Terraform for AWS, GCP, and K8s
  • Harden production services running in K8s
  • Maintain production services with active users
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and related tooling 
  • Implement observability for microservice mesh architecture
  • Work closely with our automotive and cloud software teams to improve the development experience and software quality across a large, safety critical codebase by integrating best practices
  • Mentor less senior engineers on the team 
  • Collaborate with partner teams and stakeholders in North America and Japan  
  • Collaborate with the global Arene team to accelerate Arene software development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Software development experience and mastery of one or more languages ( Golang, Java, Python)
  • Expertise in developing backend services, APIs, and databases schemas
  • Experience with cloud-based software solutions, containerization and orchestration
  • Knowledge of development best practices for large, distributed codebases (microservices) 
  • Relevant professional experience in building tools and automation for CI (any of Github Actions, Gitlab CI, Jenkins, Buildkite) and local development environments
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and relevant tools/frameworks, including Helm, Terraform, etc
  • Experience supporting production environments with active users
  • 3+ years of experience developing software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a distributed team environment
  • Professional experience in working with and optimizing data processing pipelines
  • Experience building and operating loosely coupled event driven distributed systems
  • Experience architecting, deploying, and operating solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts, AWS RDS, SQS, Networking, Postgresql
