TEAM
The Toyota Woven City is a fully connected ecosystem powered by hydrogen fuel cells to be built at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. It is envisioned as a 'living laboratory' and 'ever-evolving,' incorporating various types of cutting edge technologies. At the same time, it is also 'human-centric,' that is, it will keep people safe and comfortable.

Woven City's R&D team will develop innovative products and services using technologies developed by Toyota Motor Corporation.

Our mission is to:
1. Develop services and products for Woven City
2. Expand capabilities through long-term R&D

Our team will develop services that are important to the city. As a first party developer, we will also build a foundation upon which third-party partners can participate. Therefore, we are responsible for not just the applications but also the primary software and capabilities.

Our team consists of many experienced members with international work experience. We aim to be open minded as we create a new culture with members from different backgrounds and nationalities. Our global team works with the Toyota Motor Corporation and the Toyota Research Institute in North America to develop our technologies and products.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic team leader to join our team of experienced developers and technical professionals. We are using the latest technologies to provide the best services and solutions to this city's applications and customers.

Besides technical expertise, a "can-do" attitude is valued in the Backend Service Team. This involves willingness to take on ownership to make changes and step up for challenges. You will collaborate with all members, ready to jump in and help the team with your expertise, be creative to solutions, and commit to our team's continuous delivery.

You rill report to the lead of function and the work style is hybrid (office and remote).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage almost all of the DevOps processes and qualitative and quantitative output of backend software services team
  • Exercise technical judgments in working with cross-functional teams
  • Build, expand and manage the software development team
  • Direct and manage each step of the system development process and release deliverables
  • Coordinate with partner companies on system design, installation, operation, and maintenance
  • Collaborative, inclusive and respectful of each team member

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related technical field
  • 5+ year experience of team management for large-scale Web application product development (requirement design, risk management, cost management, coordinating scope, identifying dependencies, management of daily development, architecture design, coding, testing, CI/CD, operation, maintenance and documentation)
  • Proficient in Java (Spring Framework) or Go-Lang (Gin or similar tools), SQL, Synchronous / Asynchronous communication protocols (Web API, gRPC / MQTT, Kafka), Docker
  • Comprehensive experience, and knowledge for testing design/frameworks and implementation
  • Experience using different development and testing tools for efficient DevOps, e.g. Git, GitHub, CI/CD tools, Jira, Confluence, AWS or GCP or MS Azure,
  • Proficiency in Business-level English

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience in API development (OpenAPI Specification (OAS)) with microservices architecture using Kubernetes, EKS, Fargate
  • Experience in data platform design and development
  • Practical experience or certificate for a SCRUM master and PO.
  • Experience and skills of GitHub Actions, Bazel, Jenkins and etc.
  • Experience of software design according to Octagonal / Onion architecture as DDD (Domain Driven Design)
