For the next-generation In-Cabin Monitoring System (IMS), we aim to enhance capabilities, improve robustness, and expand use cases so that drivers maintain the appropriate level of focus depending on the situation and the level of automation in the vehicle - while meeting the stringent safety and quality standards required for automotive mass production.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze customer and system requirements for mass-produced Driver Monitoring Systems, and translate them into software implementation
- Implement, evaluate, and improve in-cabin perception software (e.g. with MATLAB/Simulink, C++, Python)
- Contribute to safety and quality activities such as DRBFM, functional safety, and SOTIF throughout the development process
- Develop tools to automate and improve the development workflow
- Help manage project schedule, deliverables, and customer satisfaction
- ]Collaborate with other developers and contractors on software implementation
- Communicate and align on deliverables with Toyota and other suppliers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field
- Experience in mass-production product development, including requirements analysis and product implementation
- At least 2-3 years of software development experience in C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or other major programming languages
- Interest in, and foundational knowledge of, at least one automotive safety or quality domain - such as DRBFM, functional safety (ISO 26262), SOTIF (ISO 21448), or quality auditing
- Ability to collaborate in Japanese with Toyota and other group companies in a Japanese-culture business environment (equivalent to JLPT N1 or higher), and conversational English
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience in communication software development (e.g. automotive communication such as CAN/Ethernet/SPI, or embedded communication protocols)
- Hands-on experience conducting DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode)
- Practical experience in functional safety (ISO 26262) development
- Practical experience applying SOTIF (ISO 21448)
- Experience in quality auditing or quality assurance for mass-produced products
- Experience developing or evaluating image recognition / human sensing systems
- Familiarity with data science and analytics
- Experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD toolchains, or software development on AWS
- Work experience outside of Japan / business-level English
