General Provisions
1.1. This Job Description defines the functions, rights, and responsibilities of the Geodesist when performing geodetic works and carrying out geodetic control at construction sites.
1.2. The position of Geodesist belongs to the category of technical specialists.
1.3. The Geodesist shall be appointed to and dismissed from the position by order of the General Director.
1.4. The Geodesist reports directly to the Construction Manager or Project Manager.
1.5. The position of Geodesist shall be filled by a person having higher technical (specialized) education or secondary specialized education (in geodesy, cartography, or cadastre), and at least 3 years of experience in engineering geodesy and geodetic support of construction.
1.6. During the temporary absence of the Geodesist (vacation, illness, etc.), his/her duties shall be assigned to another specialist based on the instruction of the department manager. The assigned person shall be responsible for the proper, efficient, and timely performance of these duties in full.
1.7. The Geodesist must know:
- legislative and regulatory acts, methodological and regulatory documents governing geodetic and topographic surveying works in construction;
- construction codes and regulations, state standards, and other regulatory and technical documents applicable to geodetic works;
- fundamentals of engineering geodesy and geodetic support of construction;
- methods of performing field and office geodetic works;
- methods of geodetic setting-out of buildings, structures, and utility networks;
- methods of performing as-built geodetic surveys;
- procedures for establishing and using geodetic control networks;
- methods of determining coordinates and elevations of geodetic points;
- design, technical characteristics, and operating rules of geodetic instruments and equipment;
- procedures for verification, calibration, and adjustment of surveying instruments and measuring devices;
- methods of mathematical processing of geodetic measurements;
- technology of major construction and installation works;
- design and working documentation required for geodetic activities;
- requirements for preparation of as-built geodetic documentation;
- procedures for preparing as-built drawings, geodetic logs, and reporting materials;
- fundamentals of modern computer technologies and specialized geodetic software;
- automation tools for topographic and geodetic works and satellite positioning technologies;
- procedures for acceptance of completed construction works concerning geodetic control;
- methods of recordkeeping and reporting of completed geodetic works;
- environmental protection requirements;
- basics of labor legislation;
- occupational health and safety, industrial sanitation, and fire safety regulations.
1.8. The Geodesist shall possess user-level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and other specialized software used for performing and documenting geodetic works.
2. Duties and Responsibilities of the Geodesist
2.1. Perform geodetic support of construction and installation works.
2.2. Conduct geodetic control to ensure compliance of construction works with design solutions, drawings, and specified geometric parameters.
2.3. Perform setting-out of axes, coordinates, elevations, and other elements of buildings, structures, and utility networks according to design documentation.
2.4. Carry out field and office geodetic works using modern surveying instruments and equipment.
2.5. Monitor the correctness of geometric parameters and the horizontal and vertical positions of structures, constructions, and engineering utilities during construction.
2.6. Perform and verify as-built geodetic surveys of completed stages of construction works and prepare the related as-built documentation.
2.7. Control the position of structures and building elements relative to design axes, coordinates, and elevations.
2.8. Verify compliance of actual geometric parameters with design and working documentation requirements.
2.9. Timely identify deviations from design solutions and regulatory requirements, document them, and inform the immediate supervisor.
2.10. Perform technical and geodetic calculations and process measurement results using computer technology and specialized software.
2.11. Maintain geodetic logs, as-built drawings, registers, and other documentation related to surveying works.
2.12. Participate in verification and approval of geodetic work results with contractors, technical supervision representatives, and other project participants.
2.13. Monitor the condition and correct use of geodetic control networks on the construction site.
2.14. Monitor the technical condition of surveying instruments and ensure their proper operation, verification, calibration, and adjustment.
2.15. Participate in preparation of as-built documentation required for acceptance of completed construction works and facilities.
2.16. Maintain records of completed geodetic works, systematize obtained data, and prepare reporting information.
2.17. Cooperate with technical supervision engineers, contractors, designers, and other construction participants regarding geodetic support issues.
2.18. Monitor the elimination of identified geodetic deviations and non-conformities within the scope of authority.
2.19. Participate in technical acceptance of completed construction works and in acceptance commissions regarding geodetic control matters.
2.20. Comply with occupational health and safety, industrial sanitation, fire safety, and environmental protection requirements while performing geodetic works.
3. Rights of the Geodesist
3.1. Review management decisions related to his/her activities.
3.2. Receive project, technical, working, and as-built documentation necessary for performance of duties.
3.3. Submit proposals aimed at improving the organization and quality of geodetic works.
3.4. Report deficiencies and deviations identified during geodetic activities and propose measures for their elimination.
3.5. Request information and documents required for performance of duties personally or through the immediate supervisor.
3.6. Suspend geodetic measurements and notify the immediate supervisor if necessary source data or project documentation is unavailable, or if circumstances prevent achieving the required accuracy.
3.7. Participate in professional development and training programs.
4. Responsibility of the Geodesist
The Geodesist shall be responsible:
4.1. For improper performance or failure to perform duties stipulated by this Job Description, within the limits established by the labor legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the employment contract.
4.2. For the accuracy and quality of geodetic measurements, calculations, and as-built geodetic documentation within his/her competence.
4.3. For violations committed in the course of professional activities, within the limits established by the administrative, criminal, civil, and labor legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
4.4. For improper use, safekeeping, and operation of surveying instruments and equipment entrusted for job performance.
4.5. For material damage caused, within the limits established by the labor and civil legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the employment contract.
