Internship Opportunity

Join World Vision’s Sponsorship in Programming (SiP) team as a remote intern and help shape how sponsorship drives meaningful, lasting impact for children. This internship blends data analytics, research, and storytelling to support smarter programming, stronger child‑sponsor engagement, and evidence‑based decision‑making.

What You'll Do

Project 1: RC Inclusion & Participation Mapping (Priority 3)

Objective: Strengthen how Registered Children (RC) participate in sponsorship by learning from innovative programme models.

  • Participation Model Review: Compare and analyze different participation models (such as the Uganda CDPC model, Wave 1 Area Programs (APs), and traditional APs) to identify what works best.

  • Engagement Pathway Mapping: Document how children engage in sponsorship activities across selected Field Offices (FOs).

  • Learning & Tool Development: Support learning sessions and help design practical tools that improve RC inclusion at the field level and Horizon system level.

Deliverables

  • FO Learning Briefs: Four short learning briefs highlighting strong practices from Field Offices.

  • RC Participation & Benefits Mapping Tool: A practical tool showing how children benefit from participation at AP and FO levels. A child-friendly tool that can be populated by the RC child in the age group of 12 to 18 years.

  • Comparative Analysis Report: A concise report comparing participation approaches and key lessons.

  • Organisation‑Ready Tools: A Child Journey Mapping Framework ready for wider use.

  • Learning Event Materials: Content to support lessons‑learned or sharing events.

Project 2: CS Impact Measurement Using Programme & Child Data (Priority 4)

Objective: Use data to tell a clear, evidence‑based story about Child Sponsorship (CS) impact / Change.

  • Data Preparation: Extract, clean, and harmonize datasets from existing programme and child‑level data sources. Data sources include (Child data, ADP MIS sheets, MVC mapping tool inputs, PMR data, Sector intervention data sets, Child case management data, Horizon Reports, ADP semi-annual reports, and ADP Financial summaries).

  • Data Analysis: Analyse child well‑being, engagement, and outcome indicators using quantitative methods. Collaborate with SiP, Programme, and Child Insights and Data team.

  • Pilot Study Support: Assist with data processes for a five‑FO pilot study for the period FY 2023 to FY 2025.

Deliverables

  • Clean, Analysis‑Ready Datasets: Prepared datasets for five Field Offices.

  • Analytical Outputs: Clear summary tables and visuals to communicate insights.

  • Technical Annex: Documentation of findings, data gaps, and limitations.

  • Final Report Contribution: Inputs into the Q4 pilot study report.

Overall Outcomes by the end of the internship period

  • Shared Best Practices: Innovative RC participation practices documented and shared across four Field Offices.

  • Completed Pilot Study: Five‑FO pilot study (Marco trends, good practices, and data gap areas) using existing programme and child data.

What You Need to Know

Details

  • Location: Remote within the US. You must be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Master's in evaluation and operational research studies, Applied Statistics, Public Policy, International Development, Development Economics, Data Science. Sponsorship programming and field sponsorship data research is an advantage

  • Internship Cohort Dates: 1 June – 28 August 2026

  • Stipend: This internship is unpaid, but all US-based interns receive a monthly stipend of $800.

  • Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week).

Eligibility

All candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (e.g., U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or F-1 student visa holder with valid work authorization) and possess a valid U.S. Social Security Number.

  • Able to commit to at least 24 hours per week for the entire internship period: 1 June – 28 August 2026

  • Current student or recent graduate from a graduate programme (within 2 years).

  • Adhere to World Vision International’s Christian Statement of Faith.

  • Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software in those devices.
