About the Role

As an Associate Software Development Engineer on the Workday Help team, you will play a key role in shaping the user experience for our Knowledge and Case Management product. You'll collaborate closely with customers, product managers, UX, and design teams to tackle real user problems, contributing across the full development stack from product discussions to front-end coding with TypeScript. Our technology includes a Kotlin microservice and Workday's proprietary XO stack; we're investing in XO and will offer dedicated training to help you develop these skills. You'll also have the opportunity to develop skills in the growing field of Generative AI as we integrate it to enhance our products, building features like our article summarization tool, case summary tool, and exploring new AI applications. This role offers a supportive environment for learning and growth while building impactful features.

As part of the Workday Help team you will:

• Be excited about mentorship and actively seek guidance from senior team members.
• Use your technical skills to contribute to the development of our product, working closely with the team.
• Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and contribute to team learning.
• Contribute to maintaining and improving our development processes and quality standards.
• Contribute to discussions about technical requirements and architecture, learning from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with UX/design to understand user needs and contribute to user-friendly solutions.
• Be in the office at least 50% of the time to collaborate with your team and build strong working relationships.
• Contribute to building a strong engineering culture and team cohesion.

About You

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years building software applications, ideally with exposure to enterprise-level concepts like performance and scalability.
• 1+ years with Object-Oriented Design and Programming concepts, data structures, and algorithms (exposure to Kotlin or Java is a plus).
• 1+ years with front-end development concepts and technologies (exposure to React, JavaScript, HTML, or CSS is a plus).
• 1+ years with RESTful APIs and modern front-end frameworks.

Other Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to manage priorities and communicate effectively within a team.
• Interest in learning about virtualisation and build technologies such as Docker, AWS EC2, GCP, Webpack, Gradle, and Jenkins.
• You enjoy working collaboratively in an agile environment and are eager to learn from others.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience collaborating effectively within a team setting.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement 

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
