About the Team

Spanning Dublin, Canada & the US, our team is responsible for the UI Platform technology used across the full suite of Workday products. Our platform is mission critical, scaling to support some of the worlds' largest companies running their businesses on Workday.

We are now looking for a Manager, Software Development Engineering in the UI Platform, Authoring pillar. This role will focus on empowering a full-stack team of engineers to innovate, deliver and deploy UI tools which enable product teams to build the end-user facing layers of Workday products at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a talented, high performing, passionate development team.

• Mentor and assist direct reports with career growth and personal development

• Work with peers and team members to set the best technical direction for your team.

• Develop close working relationships with Product Management and UX Design to create a world-class user experience together in collaboration with UI Platform and Product stakeholders.

• Focus on quality, while increasing effectiveness; Delivering value fast, while reducing waste.

• Foster an environment where communication, teamwork, innovation and collaboration are rewarded.

• Get involved setting strategy and direction for the team.

• Personify and promote the Workday values of Employees, Customer Service, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability.

• Understand and promote industry-standard methodologies.

• Energise your team and have fun building software!

About You

Basic Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience leading agile software development teams.

• 5+ years experience developing software.

• Experience leading and coaching engineers in cross-functional agile teams ranging in experience from graduate level up to seasoned professionals.

• BS in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience.

• An interest in or experience with UX would also be a plus.

• Built and shipped complex software products, while constantly striving for continuous improvement.

Other Qualifications:

• You demonstrate clear decision making abilities, and can make reliable judgment calls.

• You are proactive and are able to deliver on initiatives that you start.

• You demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed to positively influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environment.

• You have the ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Experience supporting team members career growth and development.

• You put people first and ensure a psychologically safe environment for team members.

• Experience with XO development a plus.
