About the Role
We are looking for a Mid-Level COBOL Developer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining enterprise COBOL applications. You will join a collaborative team that values clean code, strong problem-solving skills, and continuous improvement within a modernizing mainframe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain COBOL-based applications that are efficient, scalable, and reliable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and enhance existing functionality.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to high coding and design standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain application stability and performance.
- Partner with QA, DevOps, and Product teams to ensure smooth deployments and successful releases.
- Continuously explore and adopt new tools, technologies, and best practices within the mainframe ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in COBOL development (Batch, CICS, or both).
- Strong understanding of structured programming and software design principles.
- Hands-on experience with mainframe technologies, including:
- JCL
- CICS
- DB2
- VSAM
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git (especially in modernized environments).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
