We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Staff Software Engineer is to architect and implement data infrastructure, devops, and APIs to automate as many processes as possible for engineering. You will be part of the STS Tools team that provides common data infrastructure and tools across the engineering department.

In this role you will be responsible for analyzing the needs of our engineering customers and supporting the design and implementation process to deliver new and maintain current tools. You design and support the integration of data infrastructure services by building efficient and intuitive software frameworks to automate and orchestrate as many processes as possible. You are hands on and able to deliver software written in several of the following languages (Python, Typescript, C/C++, Go, Rust). You provide technical expertise in architecting and managing data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses in a cloud environment.

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 2 to 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. 

What you will do:

  • As part of the Engineering organization, and deployed in STS you will act as a Staff Software Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
  • Identify opportunities and develop tools and services to improve the end-to-end UX of data collection and analysis tools.
  • Architect and integrate data collection systems simulation, test rig, and aircraft systems. 
  • Architect and manage data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses in a cloud environment.
  • Collaborate with several IPTs (Integrated Product Team) on usability, data collection, and analysis. 
  • Develop core libraries (Python) that engineering teams can build analyses.
  • Develop ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship in the areas of data infrastructure to the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in C/C++/Rust/Python/Go and/or Typescript/Javascript/HTML/CSS
  • Experience architecting and managing data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses in a cloud environment
  • Experience with Protobufs
  • Experience conforming with FMI
  • Experience with IaC (Terraform) and automated pipelines
  • Experience with web APIs or other forms of distributed networked comms
  • Experience developing in Linux and container environments
  • Experience building data analyses in Python or Matlab
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and containerization (Docker, k8s)
  • Experience with highly automated software development processes and modern tools (git, GitLab/GitHub, JIRA)
  • This role will require <8% of travel
