We are looking for a High Voltage (HV) Design Engineer - EWIS to join our team. The goal of an HV Design Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that the designed high-voltage harness systems for eVTOL aircraft comply with industry standards and project requirements. You will be part of the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) engineering team at Wisk, which is part of an interdisciplinary, integrated project team responsible for the complete development of EWIS. This includes architecture definition, design, verification, certification, and delivery of the Gen6 aircraft.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our HQ Mountain View, CA

In this role you will:

  • Design and Development: Design and develop high voltage harness systems for eVTOL aircraft, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Component Selection: Select appropriate components such as connectors, cables, and protective elements to meet high voltage and current requirements while ensuring system safety and reliability.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to integrate high voltage harnesses into the overall aircraft design, focusing on optimal routing, packaging, and connectivity.
  • Documentation: Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation for high voltage harness designs, including bill of materials, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test plans for high voltage harness systems, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical testing to validate performance and reliability.

What you will do:

  • As part of the Aircraft IPT organization, and deployed in an EWIS Engineering, you will act as a design engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
  • You will help support problem solving activities related to high voltage harness systems, implementing effective solutions to resolve technical challenges.
  • You will take part in Compliance and Safety: Understand safety regulatory requirements applicable to the aircraft and system development program. Ensure that all harness designs comply with relevant safety regulations, standards, and certification requirements for eVTOL aircraft.
  • In some areas, you will be working closely with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful development and certification of high voltage harness systems. 
  • You will plan and execute test plans for high voltage harness systems, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical testing to validate performance and reliability.

Requirements:

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering. 
  • Minimum 10 years of aerospace experience, with good knowledge of Part 23 and 25 design organization environments. 
  • Experience in eVTOL or electric aircraft development is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with high voltage testing equipment and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of environmental and EMI/EMC considerations in high voltage systems.
  • Experience with DO-160, and other relevant aerospace standards.
  • Experience with electrical harness design and routing in the context of aerospace is desired. 
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX is beneficial (other CAD tool knowledge will be considered).
  • Knowledge of electrical 2D drawing tools such as Capital is beneficial. 
  • Good knowledge of harness routing and installation rules (such as redundancy, segregations, protections, bend radius, attachment, marking, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge with PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is beneficial. 
  • Experience with regulatory requirements, standards and aerospace certification procedures is beneficial. 
  • Strong motivation to help build processes, guidelines and tools for EWIS design is required. 
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously is required. 
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required. 
  • The ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required. 
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.
  • This role will require 25% of travel
