Senior Backend Developer

Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

• Backend development using TypeScript and Node.js. 
• Design and development of scalable, high-performance APIs and services.
• PostgreSQL, SQL database design, and query optimisation. 
• Redis and caching technologies. 
• RESTful API development and third-party integrations. 
• Microservices and distributed systems architecture. 
• Message-driven systems using RabbitMQ, Redis Messaging, and AMQP. 
• Docker and containerised application development. 
• Git version control and collaborative development workflows. 
• CI/CD pipelines and software deployment practices. 
• Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and system optimisation. 
• Secure, maintainable, and testable software development. 
• Cross-functional collaboration within Agile teams. 
• Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP (advantageous). 
• Kubernetes and container orchestration (advantageous). 
• Configuration management and automation tools such as SaltStack (advantageous). 
• iGaming platform development and Remote Gaming Server (RGS) experience. 
• Understanding of gaming industry regulations and compliance requirements (advantageous).

The Senior Backend Developer will play a pivotal role in designing, architecting, and evolving the core backend systems that power our iGaming SaaS platform. This role requires deep technical expertise in distributed systems, API design, scalability, security, and performance optimization. The successful candidate will drive backend architecture decisions, mentor developers, lead complex technical initiatives, and ensure the delivery of highly available, scalable, and resilient services that support business growth and innovation. As a senior member of the engineering Team, you will collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, QA, and Engineering Leadership to shape technical strategy, improve development practices, and deliver world-class gaming platform capabilities.
