ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

You will work closely with account managers on A&D accounts and strive to become the trusted technical advisor to our customers by understanding their business needs and addressing those needs through Wind River’s products and services. 

 

You must have experience in Linux and Embedded software engineering, preferably within Aerospace and Defense sectors. You should be capable of understanding customers’ problems and be able to effectively communicate solutions using our product offerings and services. 

 

You should also know and have experience with software project development cycles and have been exposed to project management. 

 

Some travel within the US will be required.

Your opportunity is to join as a customer facing subject matter expert of a highly talented and motivated, customer-facing field engineering team. You will be responsible for understanding our customers' business and technical needs and working with them in the capacity of a technical evangelist and trusted advisor in crafting the next generation of Intelligent systems using WR technology and Solutions

 

 Responsibilities

 

As an experienced Linux Field Application Engineer/ Linux Solution Architect in a customer-facing role, you will be guiding your customer through their journey by understanding the customer requirement around Linux choices and able to architect the Linux solution leveraging the Wind River Linux portfolio.

 

Engage with customers in a consultative and business-led approach, understanding their business outcome and requirements, able to build the solution architecture leveraging WR Linux and Cloud portfolio and help them achieve their business objectives.

 

Guide and conduct pre-sales pilots, demonstrations, workshops, proofs-of-concepts, evaluations and benchmarks.

 

Ensure that revenue quota, deployment, and service objectives are met while maintaining a high level of satisfaction among existing and prospective customers.

 

Establish technical relationships with customer associates to prospect new opportunities.

 

ABOUT YOU

 

Core Technical and Personal Competencies & Demonstrated Success 

 

  • Experience in customer facing technical pre-sales/Solution Architecting roles with strong interpersonal skills required for technical presentations/demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of Debian based Linux solutions including deploying and running solutions in the cloud and private, public and/or hybrid clouds. 

 

  • Solid Linux administration skills with SUSE Linux system administrator, deployment or equivalents; certifications are a plus
  • Hands-on Experience with Linux kernel, UEFI/BIOS, U-Boot/grub, PCI, USB, networking, storage, graphics drivers, porting application packages, able to modify kernel, build systems, open-source package management.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux distributions like Yocto Project, RHEL, Debian, CentOS, OpenSUSE.
  • Familiarity with Programming & Scripting languages such as Python, C, C++, Rust, Go, Shell scripting etc.
  • Good understanding of security aspects of Linux (App Armor, SELinux, TPM, Secure boot, Mitigation of Vulnerabilities etc.)
  • Experience with Enterprise Cloud Native technologies including Kubernetes, containers, microservices, etc., and a good understanding of AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with DevSecOps development methodologies including an understanding of tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Docker etc.; certifications with such are a plus.
  • Contributions to open-source projects will be a plus
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Engineering, Services, Distributors, Partners etc.
  • Embedded software development and system architecture experience in a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) environment preferably VxWorks and Helix Virtualization is a plus.

 

 

Qualifications

 

BSCS or BSEE or equivalent is required.,

 

  • Be comfortable in presenting to Senior technical audiences, whiteboarding the solution, articulating the value proposition through demo/POC/evaluation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think out of box and create solutions for customer
  • A willingness and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks

Compensation                

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $195,000 to $250,000 OTE for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $200,000 to $26000 OTE for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
