Engineer Intern (QA Process & Systems)

Location: Singapore

Job Overview

 

This role supports the Engineering, Quality Assurance, Testing, and Compliance teams in maintaining and improving engineering processes, systems, internal databases, and reporting. The intern will assist with reviewing and creating engineering documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports, and extracting and analyzing data to support business initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have experience or an interest in Python programming for data analysis and process automation. An interest in data analytics, retail and supply chain management, and the home furnishings industry is highly desirable.

 

We are looking for an intern who can commit to a minimum internship period of 6 months (up to 1 year), preferably starting in September, and is available to work at least four days per week in the office.

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Spot audit Product Engineering documentation from in house system
  • Review Output of Data from existing systems and processes for improvement
  • Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks and DraftSight.

  • Data visualization and reporting using Microsoft Power BI

  • Engineering documentation and process improvement

  • Product quality, testing, and compliance activities

  • Internal systems and data management

 

Learning Scope

During this internship, you will gain practical experience in:

 

  • Engineering documentation, technical standards, and document control.

  • Product quality assurance, testing methodologies, and regulatory compliance.

  • Product lifecycle management and engineering data management.

  • Data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

  • Process automation using Python and Microsoft Power Platform.

  • 2D drafting and 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks and DraftSight.

  • Engineering process improvement and operational excellence.

  • Product development and sourcing processes within a global retail organization.

  • Home furnishings engineering, including furniture, kitchenware, and home products.

  • Supply chain operations supporting a global retailer.

  • Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, QA, Compliance, Product Development, and Sourcing teams across multiple regions.

  • Project planning, stakeholder communication, and time management.

  • Professional presentation and communication skills through team presentations and project updates.

  • Working within a multinational organization and understanding global engineering operations.

 

 

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel (formulae & functions).
    • Able to design charts and graphs in Excel.
  • Knowledge of Excel VBA and Power BI would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge in a data-oriented Programming Language (e.g Python, R, Microsoft Power Apps) would be strongly preferred
  • CAD – SOLIDWORKS, DRAFTSIGHT | 2D Drafting & 3D Modelling (Background in Autocad and FEA background would be advantageous).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous with very good attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain structured engineering data.
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, or a related discipline would be an advantage.
