Job description

WhyHireWrong? is hiring a Design Engineer — a full-time, based in Warsaw role. Apply directly on WhyHireWrong?'s careers page below.

A pre-seed startup is building a personal AI agent that can complete everyday tasks for its users. The product is still being shaped, so this role is not about maintaining an existing design system or implementing finished mockups. You will decide how the product should work, design the experience, and build the interface yourself.

You will work across web and iOS, closely with the founder and a small technical team.

What you will work on

  • Turn early product ideas into usable flows and prototypes in Figma.

  • Build those flows in TypeScript, React and Next.js.

  • Create interfaces that show what the AI agent is doing, what it needs from the user and what actions it has taken.

  • Decide how users start, review, correct and approve actions performed by the agent.

  • Build or contribute to the iOS application using SwiftUI.

  • Establish the first reusable components, interaction patterns and visual standards.

  • Improve details such as typography, spacing, loading states, empty states, transitions and error handling.

  • Test ideas quickly, use feedback to improve them and ship working versions instead of over-designing in isolation.

  • Work directly with the founder and engineers on product decisions, not only on visual execution.

What you need to have

You should apply if you can show real shipped work that demonstrates both product design and frontend engineering.

Specifically, you need:

  • Experience building and shipping production interfaces with TypeScript, React and Next.js.

  • Experience designing product flows and high-fidelity interfaces in Figma.

  • At least one example where you were involved in both the design and implementation of a feature or product.

  • The ability to work independently from an unclear idea to a tested, working interface.

  • Practical understanding of frontend fundamentals, including component architecture, responsive layouts, accessibility, API states and performance.

  • Experience making product decisions, not only following designs or tickets prepared by someone else.

  • A portfolio, live product or code sample that makes your contribution clear.

  • Fluent Polish for daily communication with the team.

  • Willingness to work on-site in Warsaw five days a week.

What will be assessed

The process will focus on the work you have actually done.

You should be prepared to discuss:

  • A feature you designed in Figma and then built in React or Next.js.

  • The decisions behind the user flow, not just the visual result.

  • How you handled loading, errors, empty states and unclear AI output.

  • How you decide which details need polishing and which can wait until later.

  • How you work when requirements are incomplete or change during development.

  • How you structure frontend code when a product is still evolving.

  • How you communicate trade-offs with founders and engineers.

SwiftUI, Vercel AI SDK and AI Gateway experience will be useful, but they do not replace the core requirement: you must be able to design and ship production-quality web interfaces yourself.

This role is not suitable if

  • Your experience is mainly junior frontend implementation without ownership of product decisions.

  • You have only designed interfaces and do not build production frontend applications.

  • You have only built frontend applications from completed designs and have limited product design experience.

  • Your work has mainly involved maintaining mature products within highly structured corporate processes.

  • You need a remote or hybrid setup.

  • You do not speak Polish fluently.

To be considered, send your CV together with a portfolio, live product or code examples. Please include at least one project where your role covered both the design and implementation.
