We make eco-friendly products and donate 50% of our profits to provide clean water and help build toilets for the billions of people who lack proper access. So far, we’ve contributed over $13.3 million AUD (roughly $8.9 million USD) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. Basically, we’re really good at doing good.

With hubs in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US, UK and Europe, our amazing team of 200+ work to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next couple of years, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold to get us closer to our dream of everyone in the world having access to clean water and sanitation services.

Join Our Team as a Senior Software Engineer!

We're on the lookout for our next Senior Software Engineer to help us scale our mission to bring delightful (and sometimes cheeky) digital experiences to the world, all while keeping things running smoothly. If you're ready to help us grow and evolve, this is the role for you.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll write high-quality, maintainable code, implement efficient testing practices, and follow industry best practices to support our pun-derful work. You'll also play a key role in mentoring and leading your teammates, fostering a culture of open communication, feedback, and knowledge sharing, while balancing strategic thinking with goal-driven execution. In this role, you’ll navigate risks, prioritise tasks, and ensure we’re always aligned with our business goals, all while collaborating with stakeholders and driving improvement.

If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in:

• Migration of Shopify Features: With our long history of using Shopify, we took on the challenge of upgrading some legacy features to align with the latest and greatest from Shopify. 

• Launching New Products: Who Gives a Crap just launched Garbage Bags! This was an exciting project that involved the whole business, including our Digital Product team. It was a huge team effort and a true testament to our collaborative culture.

• Tech Strategy: Our Digital Product team is constantly evolving, and our tech strategy document is always a work in progress. You’ll play an important role in keeping that document alive and relevant, shaping the way forward for the entire team.

• Testing & QA Automation: We're great at shipping features, but we’re always looking to be even better. Right now, we’re building out automated testing to make sure fewer bugs slip through the cracks.

You’re a seasoned Senior Software Engineer who’s always plugged into your tech stack and on the pulse of the latest trends in ecommerce and frontend development. You’re a hands-on mentor and guide developers of all experience levels, empowering those around you to learn and grow.

You’re a problem solver at heart—tackling complex issues independently with an MVP-and-iterate approach. You’re always learning, thinking about ways to improve, sharing fresh ideas, and contributing to the broader strategy of our Digital Product Engineering team.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Ecommerce experience: Whether it’s Shopify or other ecommerce platforms, you’ve worked in the space and know your way around it.

• Several years of Senior Software Engineer experience: You’ve built a solid career and are ready to take on more leadership responsibilities.

• A passion for technical growth: You love the technical side of things and are always looking for ways to grow and challenge yourself as an engineer.

• Full-stack comfort: You’re not perfect in every layer, but you’re comfortable working across the entire stack—backend, frontend, infrastructure—and enjoy jumping into all parts of the code.

• JavaScript and TypeScript expertise: You’re a pro with these technologies and can write clean, efficient code.

• Mentoring and coaching: You thrive on collaborating and are a natural mentor—whether it’s pair programming or giving feedback, you enjoy helping others grow.
