Engineering Tech

This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Engineering Tech at our Cleveland Manufacturing Plant on our second shift.  In this role you will maintain efficient and safe operations of all equipment and machinery to support plant operations in the manufacture of Whirlpool premium cooking products that meet production and quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include

• Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations associates, bringing resolutions to problems by identifying root cause and implementing preventative measures to equipment and systems issues
• Provide teaching and coaching to Maintenance Technicians on technical issues and operations associates on process issues
• Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment such as PLC controls and associated field devices, servos, robotic systems, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, HMI's, and assorted industrial machinery controls
• Plan and coordinate all aspects of projects, meeting cost and time deadlines
• Develop key documentation of systems, troubleshooting methods and provide technical on-the-job training, and share best practices with Manufacturing Services Technicians
• Maintain all work areas in shop and on production floor in a neat and safe manner
• Log daily activity and communicate with other technicians and facility staff
• Work in accordance with WCM initiative
• Ability to prioritize work

Preferred skills and experiences

• 1+ year experience using Rockwell PLC software to troubleshoot process equipment, upset situations and to make the changes needed to get the equipment running
• 1+ year experience using Rockwell HMI software to troubleshoot process equipment, upset situations and to make the changes needed to get the equipment running
• 1+ year experience installing and configuring a VFD Drive
• 1+ year experience working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and associated electrical field devices
• Ability to work self-directed is required
• Capable of resolving process upset situations and following through to ensure corrective measures are implemented
• Excellent customer relations skills with the ability to communicate effectively with key internal/external stateholders
• Demonstrate Leadership Attributes working as s member of a team and leadhing by example
• Eagerness to expand knowledge and skills across multiple disciplines
• Ability to work overtime hours to support production requirements

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., unassisted
• Ability to stand, bend, lift and twist 10 or more hours per day
• Ability to wear PPE for the work area
• Must be available to work daily/weekly/ OT hours as required to support team members
• Ability to climb ladders and work ast heights up to 30 feet
• Ability to use hand tools and advanced test equipment (meters, toners, etc.)
• Position requires incumbents to spend significant time on their feet and walking (10 or more hours per day), as well as alternate between standing and seated positions
• Ability to kneel, stoop, bend and work in tight spaces to troubleshoot and repair equipment
