Product Manager, Unified Platform (Health & Benefits)

Location: US - Remote

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

WEX is an innovative payments and technology company leading the way in a rapidly changing environment. Our goal is to simplify the business of running a business for our customers and free them to spend more time, with less worry, on the things they love. We are on a journey to build a unified, world class user experience across our products and services and leverage customer driven innovation to power our growth and strategic initiatives.

As we lean into our mission to “simplify the business of running a business”, WEX is looking to simplify and reimagine experiences, starting from the customer perspective.

As a Product Manager, Unified Platform (Health & Benefits), you will serve as the architectural connective tissue across our Health & Benefits ecosystem. Your mission is to sunset siloed legacy systems and drive the strategy for a seamless, API-first platform. You will own the execution and delivery of the product roadmap by collaborating across the business on the product roadmap with an emphasis on creating a simple, proactive and personalized experience.

About the team:
We are the architects of Wex’s forthcoming unified experience for all Health and Benefits clients. Our mission is to take the complex, siloed worlds of Benefits Administration, Consumer Directed Health (CDH), and Cobra Direct Bill (CDB), and weave them into a single, cohesive ecosystem. We are moving away from fragmented legacy systems toward a modern API-first and Micro-Frontend (MFE) architecture. We operate in a new and at times ambiguous space, tasked with defining the common data standards and seamless workflows that allow our products to feel like one experience, rather than a collection of separate tools.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Unification Strategy: Architect the phased transition of Benefits Administration, Consumer Directed Health (CDH), and Cobra Direct Bill (CDB) from siloed legacy tools into a single, cohesive ecosystem.

  • Establish Data-Driven Foundations: Take a proactive approach to our data strategy by identifying missing metrics and designing the instrumentation needed to capture them. You will turn raw information into the insights that justify our roadmap and prove our success.

  • Synthesize Feedback into Action: Use a mix of customer interviews and gathered analytics to validate hypotheses and pivot quickly when a unification effort needs adjustment.

  • Drive Decisive Prioritization: Own the prioritization process by developing a clear point of view on product direction. You will be expected to weigh competing priorities and present a recommended path forward for alignment.

  • Orchestrate API and MFE Strategy: Partner with engineering to ensure our Micro-Frontend (MFE) strategy and backend APIs work in harmony to deliver a modular, "plug-and-play" experience for our users.

  • Standardize Core Logic: Identify and define the shared logic—such as eligibility, enrollment, and identity—that must remain consistent across every product line to ensure a seamless customer journey.

  • Multi-Squad Technical Delivery: Direct 1–3 scrum teams, balancing greenfield builds with legacy migrations while maintaining a relentless focus on feature quality and technical health.

  • Bridge Stakeholder Gaps: Act as the primary link between business leaders, UX, and engineering to ensure everyone is aligned on the unified vision and the trade-offs required to get there.

  • Leverage AI for Efficiency: Use AI tools to accelerate the discovery process, from drafting complex technical requirements, to identifying patterns in large datasets, to building prototypes of new features.

  • Identify Common Denominators: Look across different product tribes to find where we are duplicating effort and lead the charge in consolidating those into shared, scalable services.

What you’ll bring:

  • 4–6+ Years of Product Management Experience: Proven track record owning complex, enterprise-grade platform products (experience in Health, Benefits strongly preferred).

  • API & System Architecture Fluency: Strong functional grasp of how APIs and Micro-Frontends (MFEs) interact to power modular, scalable web apps.

  • Mastery of Ambiguity: Demonstrated ability to take high-level organizational goals and distill them into actionable, step-by-step engineering roadmaps.

  • Systems-Thinking Mindset: Ability to balance micro-level user workflows with macro-level platform architecture.

  • Data-Centric Approach: Comfort with data modeling and establishing single-source-of-truth architectures between disparate systems.

  • Influence & Governance: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a history of driving consensus across competing organizational priorities.
