Lead Engineer - Informatica

This role sits within our Customer & UNITE Technology division. Westpac's UNITE program is a multi-year, technology transformation initiative to consolidate systems, streamline processes, and modernizing technology infrastructure. This will in turn simplify the bank's operations, reduce costs, and improve both customer and employee experiences.

About the role: 

We are establishing AI first engineering practices where intelligent agents assist and increasingly lead software and data development. In this role you will help drive the adoption of AI driven, agentic development across Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) pipelines and python services —automating coding, testing, documentation, and change delivery while meeting the bank’s regulatory and security obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and support data integration solutions using Informatica IDMC (Cloud Data Integration, Cloud Application Integration, Data Quality, Metadata).
• Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines across on prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Informatica and IDMC, defining standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Partner with architects and stakeholders to support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives.
• Engineer for non-functional excellence: reliability, security, performance, observability, and operability.
• Ensure that agreed standards and processes within Westpac are adhered to ensure fulfilment of regulatory obligations.
• Apply an AI first approach to automate coding, testing, data mappings, orchestration, and documentation.

What do I need?

• Expert level experience with Informatica PowerCenter &IDMC.
• Experience designing and supporting high volume, time critical batch data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex relational datasets.
• Exposure to Git, Bitbucket.
• Computer Science (or closely related degree) with a major in software engineering or equivalent.
